Has anyone considered rebuying a speaker you once owned??
I miss my Ohm Fs which I bought back in 1974 and sold a couple of years later when I had to move. Tried the new Ohms a few years back and, in spite of the manufacturer's advertising, they just don't have the magic of the originals. Unfortunately, ...
Best floorstander at $2k or less?
Triton 5s are $2K new and Triton 7s are $1,400. I have the 7s. They are an excellent speaker for a wide range of music. Check out the reviews.
Integrated Amps with Phono for $3000 or less (or separate phono and Integrated)
I can recommend the Bel Canto C5i. Excellent sound in a compact, cool-running amp for about $2K list.
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
in the spirit of this thread, I thought I should warn people to NOT mark directionality on their fuses. The ink or sticker could confuse the electrons, drawing them off-center. The same is true of handling fuses with your bare fingers -- deposited...
Just Ordered New Speakers
I've had a pair of Triton 7s for about a year and a half now and have been very pleased. (The 7 was selected due to size, not price.)They replaced a set of classic Spendor SP1/2Es which I dearly loved, but were finally ordered out of the room due ...
Is anyone thinking about building Walsh drivers?
I bought a set of Ohm Fs back in 1975 or 76 and they were absolutely magical. Unfortunately, life required that I had to part with them a few years after that. About 10 years ago, I wanted to recapture that sound and did the home trial of a set of...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
Just curious, did Decware and PS Audio simply recommend the Synergistic brand in general, or did they specifically suggest you use a larger value fuse than originally chosen for the gear? That's how I read ptss's post. The ONLY reason to have a fu...
I heard the $4000 Focal Utopia Headphones yesterday
Lots of paranoia around here. The effect of any poison is dependent on the specific compound involved and dose along with the frequency and duration of exposure. For example, many old houses contain asbestos, but there is no particular risk if the...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
>>   As for me, I'll take Chet Baker's trumpet in my face. Can't resist commenting -- just think how much better Chet's recordings would have been if they would have had these fuses 50 or 60 years ago when the bulk of his best records were ...
Wilson Audio Haters
As several others have noted, "hate" is the wrong word. Opinions are a dime a dozen in this hobby and everyone has one. It's a simple issue of different people having different preferences.I've heard Wilsons many times and they are not my cup of t...
Questions about the newer Allison Model 1 and Model 4 Speakers?
Checkout the saved allisionacoustics.com web pages on the internet's "wayback machine" at web.archive.org. There are quite a few captures of Allison's web pages to about 2008. Here's info from a 1/1/2007 web page. Specs look roughly the same, thou...

Tube Physics Question
Since the amplifier was originally designed for KT88s, why couldn't the improvement simply be due to the fact that they are a better match for the circuit than another tube type, though compatible from the standpoint that it won't damage anything,...
Do ClassDAudio Amps Have Proper Decay Of Notes?
Just to throw out a thought -- shouldn't whatever "decay" a musical sound possesses be solely on the recording? And isn't it the job of the equipment in the playback chain to simply reflect, as accurately as possible, what's on the recording? Deca...
