Why does most new music suck?
Frogman, the dictionary definition of "progress" is movement toward a goal. With that in mind, not everyone has the same goals as you. So a style of music or artist can certainly be progressing but still leave a lot of people unimpressed.
Why does most new music suck?
How many parents in the 1960s and 70s asked their teenagers why they listened to all that garbage? I clearly remember that my dad didn't think much of the Beatles and the other popular groups when I was a teen. One also doesn't have to dig very de...
When did you know you're different?
I'm confused. You like one of the most popular bands in the world, a band also immortalized by millions upon millions of others, and this is proof that you're "different"? Could you clarify?
Online Totem Dealer?
St. Louis Stereo in St. Louis sells them and they have a web site at http://www.stlouisstereo.com/. Give Charlie a call, he's a good guy and will let you quickly know if he can help. (Online sales by local dealers are sometimes not allowed dependi...
Is the CD and DVD/Bluray going away?
Tomycy6, would just point out there is a difference between "product shipped" and "product sold". It take more time to accurately determine the latter. But, we're quibbling over accounting details. The trend is the same.
Is the CD and DVD/Bluray going away?
Interesting the differences noted in sales between sources. The numbers I noted above were from a Reuter's article based on Billboard magazine figures. See http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/01/05/us-albumsales-us-idUSTRE8031NY20120105. (These ar...
Is the CD and DVD/Bluray going away?
CDs and DVDs aren't going away, but they are no longer the sales behemoth they once were. The top sales year for CDs was 2000 when they sold almost 800 million of them. Now CD sales are less than half that, around 300 million. (Vinyl sales, while ...
Does my acoustic ideology make me an outcast?
dynami28 wrote: "But after years of listening to people push and pimp them to me.... I became a little jaded. Trust me I believe 901's are the standard litmus test for Audiophile status." Interesting. The only single time I had Bose "pimped" to me...
Does my acoustic ideology make me an outcast?
Marakanetz wrote: "While most 'audiophiles' reject Bose 901, there are plenty of other people that listen to music through it." That's why I phrased my question and comment the way I did. I know Bose is a best seller with the larger public, but if...
Does my acoustic ideology make me an outcast?
Where did you pick up the idea that "audiophiles" have Bose 901s as their standard? Bose is perhaps the most dismissed consumer brand among those who take their audiophilia seriously.
Micromega My DAC to improve sound of Rega Apollo
Two questions: First, what aspect of the Rega needs improvement? Second, if you believe the Micromega would be superior, why not get their CD player? It would presumably benefit from the integrated design and eliminate the need to play with expens...
Dealer selling B stock doesn't tell customers
Tomcy6, thanks for spotting the incorrect word. There will be no ice cream for the copy editor tonight!
Dealer selling B stock doesn't tell customers
Tomcy6 wtote: "Mlsstl, If you were asking me how I know it happens, I have had it happen to me. A dealer sold me a cd player, didn't mention that it was B stock. Someone who knew the dealer better told me it was B stock after I had problems with i...
Dealer selling B stock doesn't tell customers
While I'd agree that dealers should disclose if the stock they are selling is anything other than grade one, I'm curious how you made the determination that he isn't.
