Quick roon question
Messed with it for a while but was never able to get it running to my satisfaction. It's not an official Roon program but rather something put together by another user. Not to disrail this thread, I'll just wrap it up this way. LMS works well for ...
Quick roon question
I passed on Roon for two reasons. First, they do not have a control app that runs on Linux, even though they have server and endpoint software for this OS. My laptop runs on LInux and I use it a lot while listening. Without a control program, that...
Quick roon question
Roon can actually be three separate parts. Beside the server and bridge (or end point), you can have a third device that does nothing but select and control the music to be played. This latter part is often on a smartphone or tablet device. You ca...
Trading Magnepan 1.7 to Martin Logan Impression 11A worth it?
We moved and the Maggies were not a good fit for the new room -- too big and also the bipole radiation pattern was a poor fit.I went to a pair of Spendor SP1/2Es which I really enjoyed but my wife got tired of the 70s box cabinet look. I have a pa...
Trading Magnepan 1.7 to Martin Logan Impression 11A worth it?
I've owned a set of Maggie 1.6QRs in the past and really enjoyed them. They are a very natural sounding speaker in the right room.As for Martin Logans, I've heard many models over the years and have yet to hear one that has good integration of the...
Need help picking a streaming integrated amp
If he is willing to accept an outboard phono preamp, why the big necessity for built-in streaming on the integrated amp itself? You can get a Raspberry Pi board with a DAC or digital out board for $100, give or take a bit, that has a footprint the...
Break in time that extends to months or maybe even years!!
Don't forget what's on the other side of "break-in" -- it is break-down. At some point the performance of any device starts deteriorating. For the neurotic, that means there will be only one day in the life of a device in which it performs at its ...
What, in your system, have you owned the longest?
Have set of Stax SR-5 headphones that I bought in 1975.
Can a CD player being close to a receiver or power amplifier affect its performance?
EMF interference follows the inverse square law -- doubling the distance of empty space between two pieces of equipment reduces the interference to one-fourth of what it was before. Therefore, if that was the problem, often a small increase in sep...
What do you use to edit music metadata info
I use Mp3tag on my Windows PC or Easytag on my Linux PC & laptop. Both work great for me.
Help Needed (please) From Aurender N100H User
Or, one other thought -- just haul the unit over to a friend's house that does have an ethernet connection to the internet. Hook it up, undo the Tidal connection, and then go back home.

If you search on Google, there are some ways to connect a wireless hotspot to an ethernet  connection. Up to you whether that's worth it or not.

Do you have a cell phone? Many current phones and cell plans offer a "hot spot" using the phone's cellular connection. This was designed to give someone an internet connection on their other wireless devices when they are away from home, but it co...
Streamer / Tubes
How loud do you listen in terms of decibel level? "Loud" and "medium" volume are meaninglessly subjective in terms of discussing the issue with your upstairs neighbor. You need to have a firm reference point. If you don't have a sound level meter,...
Has anyone else auditioned something that really was terrible?
Though it's not an amplifier, I think the worst hifi product I ever heard was the Bertagni panel speaker back in the mid-1970s. I like Magnapans, Quads and most other panel speakers I’ve heard, but these failed horridly.
