More money toward better speakers or a better DAC?
It is more how long lasting  the qualities a DAC has to it’s owner. Not how long a DAC holds it’s place in the market. I held on to my BDA-1 for 8 years. Bought it used, sold it for 2/3rds what I paid for it. A highly regarded DAC that provides th...
More money toward better speakers or a better DAC?
Sorry, my BDA served me well. All within a system that retailed at about $15K.
More money toward better speakers or a better DAC?
I have speakers that sound right to me in a room meant for such speakers and treated the room to my liking. My old DAC served me   A Bryston BDA -1.  The AM DAC improved the “air” around notes, added soundstage height and depth, and improved tonali...
More money toward better speakers or a better DAC?
I say it depends on what one has in one's system at the time of consideration. In my case I was using a 10 year old DAC and had speakers that worked well in my room with my current amplifier. I wanted a new DAC, one that was NOS, R2R, and had tube ...
The psychological factor
I am with Kijanki, use the gain provided by the preamp. Likely will sound better when using  50-75% of it's gain. With digital there are many preamps that provide too much gain. Having an amp that allows a choice with it's gain is a plus.
Looking for preamp reccomendations
Why not a tube linestage preamp, like one from Quicksilver, with a SS phonostage. Some tube preamps have internal SS phonostages.
Schiit CD transport on the cards soon?
I am looking for a transport to replace the Cambridge CXC. Nothing against the CXC, will keep it a secondary system. Will be interested in the Schiit, should they produce one.

LTA - Has Anyone Had First Hand Experiance?
Thanks dodgealum and facten.  I had discovered the positive feedback review. As with high-amp, I will source out dodgealum's review. I may have to hope for a used pair to come available.
Want to setup basic home audio system
Diripio, I may have missed it, have we been given the room size? Room size, distance from speakers, loudness levels desired, all in addition to speaker demands contribute to power needs. Could you please provide us a little more guidance regarding...

I would like to hear more regarding the Daedaulus Muse speakers.
Want to setup basic home audio system
Well, If you are willing to up your budget to $1500 and are willing to buy used/dealer demo you have greater options. I agree it is best to identify speakers 1st. Then find a integrated amp which compliments. That said when cost is a concern it is...
Want to setup basic home audio system
Waiting to hear how you are going to source your music. Wharfedale makes great bookshelf speakers that would fit into a sub $1000 system. Paired with a Yamaha A-S301 integrated amplifier which has internal phonostage and DAC onboard would make for...
For anyone who moved from tubes to solid state — a question
Yes, on owning both type amps.
