Is there a magic formula for spending on components in a system
OK, a possible formula given a digital system:Source - 20 to 25%Amplification - 25 to 35%Speakers - 25 to 45%Cables - 10 - 15%Summation of the mid value of each components class = 100%

I believe the allotment of funds across components differs with budget. For instance, if budget is $1000 than it might prove best to invest more on both the integrated amplifier and the source component than the speakers. However, as the budget i...
New speakers for turntable ($500 range)
You have received, and seem to be taking, great advise. With a $600 budget I would consider the Wharfedale Diamond offered by Music Direct at $199 and the Denon or possibly the Yamaha A-S301 which can be had for $350. Buy some Monoprice 12ga in wa...
Yamaha A-S801 for Dynaudio Evoke 20
Yes, best to test with the speakers of choice. I am a fan of Dynaudio 2-ways. Were you interested in the Yamaha for the phonostage and DAC?
Yamaha A-S801 for Dynaudio Evoke 20
I am currently using the A-S701 which has the same amplification  section as the 801 I believe. I am using it with B&W CM5s which have similar specs as the Evokes. I think the 801s would work well.+1 twoleftears.
My Music Format Odyssey
I started with vinyl in mid 60s, added R2R early 70s, then cassette 80s, cds 90s, now stream to find new music, purchase on CD, burn to server. Most often play CD via transport/DAC on main system. Use computer as server for 2nd system due to porta...

Getting back in to audio- Source help
I should add that I have used a Mac Mini via a USB/SPDIF converter into a separate DAC playing AIFF files burned from CDs. Lately I have been planing more of the CDs through a transport into the DAC. I use streaming to find music which is purchase...
Getting back in to audio- Source help
If I wanted to stream Tidal or Qobuz I would buy a dedicated streamer and not use a computer. I also would purchase a separate DAC. Amplification between sources and speakers would be focused on providing the necessary gain, in/outputs and desired...
Can tubes cancel tubes?
I use a tube DAC (Audio Mirror) into a Tube preamp (Aric Audio) with a SS amp (BEL 1001). My speakers are Esoteric MG 10s (87dB sensitive, 6ohm dropping below 4). Thinking about also trying a tube amp while keeping the BEL. The tube DAC and pre ha...
Dedicated transport or CD player as transport?
I am seriously considering the Denafrips, at $1200 US. Will post my thoughts on new thread should I purchase one.
New Aragon 8008 or Pass Labs XA25 ??
I am considering the PassXA25 as  replacement for my BEL 1001Mk5 when I need to replace it. I am in no hurry however, as the BEL is wonderful and I am upgrading my system from the source downstream to speakers. My BEL was made in 2007, so 13 years...
New Aragon 8008 or Pass Labs XA25 ??
As I understand it your Tekton speakers are relatively easy to drive. Not to short the Aragon 8008, however the Pass will provide higher quality watts, however fewer of them. Do you really need a 200wpc amplifier?I am very much interested in the X...
