Amp Pairing for Aerial Acoustics 6Ts. +1 on the canare 4S11 cables. Budget cables that perform far beyond that.Hope the Sonos amp works out.
...bookshelf speakers that sound good at low volume... Forgot to add, I own a A-S701. I use the internal DAC with a Sony CD/DVD as a transport. Has 100wpc and contoured loudness which allows variance in loudness function.
...bookshelf speakers that sound good at low volume... I would purchase a different integrated with a loudness switch. The Yamaha A-S501, 701 or 801 line fit your budget.
Matching tube preamp to ss amp There are a number of tube preamps within your budget that have a lower output impedance. Jolida, Aric Audio, Quicksilver, Atma-Sphere, Van Alstine, Rogue, and others. Otherwise look for an amp with higher input impedance. Either way when changin...
Matching tube preamp to ss amp It is not be the best match, as others have said, it is borderline. How low in the bass region do your speakers go? How do the pair sound to you? While saving for another amp. look into ones having input impedance of 50ohms or greater.
Turned Off My Subwoofer ... And My Speakers Sound Great Given you have excellent speakers, known to sound 'bigger' regarding bass than their size might suggest, in such a small room I am not surprised at your experience. Many reasons have been aforementioned herein. I think I would not trouble myself ...

Need advice! Do I upgrade DAC or buy a new player? @rikintpa What did you decide?
More money toward better speakers or a better DAC? I believe most would agree with you that the Bluesound Node does 'confines' the music and that it is the weak link in your system. Many have posted here that they use it with an outboard DAC.
More money toward better speakers or a better DAC? It is more how long lasting the qualities a DAC has to it’s owner. Not how long a DAC holds it’s place in the market. I held on to my BDA-1 for 8 years. Bought it used, sold it for 2/3rds what I paid for it. A highly regarded DAC that provides th...
More money toward better speakers or a better DAC? Sorry, my BDA served me well. All within a system that retailed at about $15K.
More money toward better speakers or a better DAC? I have speakers that sound right to me in a room meant for such speakers and treated the room to my liking. My old DAC served me A Bryston BDA -1. The AM DAC improved the “air” around notes, added soundstage height and depth, and improved tonali...
More money toward better speakers or a better DAC? I say it depends on what one has in one's system at the time of consideration. In my case I was using a 10 year old DAC and had speakers that worked well in my room with my current amplifier. I wanted a new DAC, one that was NOS, R2R, and had tube ...
The psychological factor I am with Kijanki, use the gain provided by the preamp. Likely will sound better when using 50-75% of it's gain. With digital there are many preamps that provide too much gain. Having an amp that allows a choice with it's gain is a plus. |
