Advice on CD transport
Just saw a new one, Leak CDT at $895.
Versatile, non-fatiguing speakers for a small room under $1500 used or new: advice needed!
Given your small room and you live in an apartment I believe you should look for sealed box or front ported stand mounts. They better serve to isolate sound within your room. Get solid stands (check out Audio Advisor for these). Many have accurate...
$1500 to spend...
I am somewhat biased for stand mounts over floor standers for use in small rooms. Though they lack the bottom octave many provide a very taunt and accurate bass over those frequencies they serve. Many can soundstage and image beyond the speakers. ...
$1500 to spend...
I am with freediver on the suggestion to move away from floor standing speakers in that size room. True that stand mounts require stands at additional cost however these need not be cost prohibiting.  Audio Advisor sells quality stands. Not to disc...
Advice on CD transport
At your price range there is the Cambridge CXC, Audiolab 600, NuPrime CDT-8 and the Project CD Box DS2. All are transports lacking internal DAC.I currently own the Cambridge which plays into a Audio Mirror Tubadour DAC. Not made any comparisons to...
Thoughts on these speaker brands and models
Peach, I must agree on your 'connection'. I have made several friends via this forum. Very much enjoy the interaction as none of my friends are that passionate about this hobby.
Tannoy Stirlings on the way!
I auditioned the Sterlings with a 20wpc class A Luxman integrated amplifier. Drove them very well. Yes the Turnberrys have an updateddriver. If my room was larger I might have considered that model. My BEL 1001 MK5 amplifier suits the Sterlings ve...
Speakers which always sound good
Of speakers that I have listened to I believe that Sonus Faber and recent Tannoys fit the description 'easy to listen to'  under most environments.  I most recently purchased the Tannoy Sterlings.
Tannoy Stirlings on the way!
Well I haven't un-boxed the speakers yet. Have one at home, picking up the other soon (small car). I will share my thoughts after a solid listening session. My Tannoy dealer is 200 miles away. I have in the past listened to much larger models, how...

Well, I just purchased the Sterlings. Loved the sound and the craftsmanship. Haven't gotten them home yet. Will get back to all.
DAC vs Tube CDplayer
I fell for the 'stand alone thing'. Purchased a Audio Mirror Tubadour III tube DAC. Makes even an inexpensive Cambridge transport sounds wonderful.
Good economical used DAC to hunt down
Are saying that you no longer need USB? If so watch for used Bryston BDA-1 ($2000 new, 6-700 used), or PS audio DIgital link III ($1000 new, 2-300 used). Both very well made DACs , USB is weak input on both, not asynchronous. I have owned both.

I am very interested! Going to audition the Sterlings next Tuesday. My room is currently 12.5 x 14.5'. Should I make the purchase I will play with placement and tilt, possibly make my own base if needed.
What's Your Advice, Used Audio Research LS15, Or Freya+?
You could consider the Quicksilver preamp.
What to upgrade next.
Audio Advisor has the Node 2i for $100 off, now at $449.
