Preamp inverts signal. I must say that I was never troubled by polarity of a recording. Have inverted polarity at the speaker or amp end of their terminals at times when amp or pre were inverted. Guess i am not that trained in listening. Also mayby thankful for that.
Which amp/preamp/integrated for GoldenEar Triton 5's Given the age of your amp and the fact you have indicated an interest in an integrated amp, I think at your budget an integrated would be a wise choice. There are many in your price range to choose from, and, as I am not familiar with the Triton 5...
When is your Hifi good enough? When I travel, after a while I start to miss listening to my system and after returning and do so, I realize how much I enjoy it, good enough! When I have been to a dealership listening to a system far more expensive than my own and return to my sy...
Using tube amp upside down Maybe you are dissipating transformer induced vibration from chassis when using amp upside down. You might try dampening the transformers another way.
Short cables for Preout/main in and passive use Yogiboy, yes I have considered this. I do have several cables I could shorten. Can’t help but think there are those factory made for this purpose however. I want to buy used.
Help me identify Kimber speaker cable LOL! Never heard that the transparent/white sounded better, but look better.
Second audio system in your house? I should have said unchanged, not alone.
Second audio system in your house? Vicweast, yea, gives one something to play with/spend on without breaking the bank, and with the exception of minor tweeks I tend to leave my primary system alone.
Second audio system in your house? One thing about spending $1000 on a second system is that you might find out how good one can sound with such an expenditure. I have friends who think nothing about spending $1000 on a TV and won’t spend $500 on audio to augment the experience. Oh...
Vibration Control for Lightweight Tube Components Great Lowrider! I love inexpensive tweeks.
Help me identify Kimber speaker cable Yes, I also believe it is the 4TC. I owned the 8TC of similar vintage, strands blue and black, teflon. A very decent cable.
looking at mcintosh pre-amp c2500. Can I do better for the cost of a Mac? Great! I am sure you will be happy. Enjoy the upgrade path.
Vibration Control for Lightweight Tube Components I feel somewhat remiss in that when I made my last post I didn’t see the previous 3 posts on page 2.Anyway, I purchased a set of Moongels yesterday and will be looking into the mentioned replacements for equipment footers. These things I will empl...
First Hand Experience? Since you are going to use your Yamaha as a separate amp or pre I would purchase the pre 1st as it would add the most toward an upgrade. I, and several others on this forum, truly enjoy the tube pre/SS amp combo. You then have a choice as to impro...
Vibration Control for Lightweight Tube Components Lowrider, I really don’t know the answer to that question in terms of the dissipation of vibration stemming form floor to equipment via a rack. The bamboo platers have greater density and are thinner. The maple shelves I use are much thicker, tho... |
