Improvement in CD player transports The Acurus could very well have the better transport and deliver sonics closer to your liking however the only concern I would have is its’ age. Often the 1st thing to go on a CD player is the transport or the pickup lens.
DAC or CD Player. Help! The result is a function of the CD transport, the cable used, the DAC and the synergy between the aforementioned.

Replacing a MAC Mini with new one... Onhwy61, My issue is that my Mini was owned by my place of work and I may now be asked to return it. I have not yet found a server that I think would be better without incurring to great an expense.I am thinking that a mini with a smaller SSD for ...
Looking for the good sounding Pre Amplifier I agree with the mismatch between a $3000 pre and your NAD. (I also own an NAD amp and enjoy it so not a knock). There is a used Quicksilver pre for sale here on AG for ~$850. Might check into that. I don’t know seller.
Replacing a MAC Mini with new one... Onhwy61, My current mini has a 0.5 TB drive and I am not sure it will even take a larger one. The thought of getting a used one I would entertain. Tuberist, no offense taken. I know some, or at least think I do, however that can be a trap. Looking...
Simple advice you should have, but didn't follow that made a big difference. Only speakers and room treatment devices occupy the front wall (behind speakers) in my dedicated room. Rack is to my side at listening position.
Blue Circle's PLC -2 Thingee conditioner versus Transparent Audio PLC 6 conditioner???: I like the approach taken by lr57. I have my power amp, preamp, and digital components on separate lines (3 lines). I only use a power conditioner for the digital components. I will check into the BC 86 mk5 filters. Thanks!

Subwoofer Ricred1, I hope you don’t mind me chiming in as I have enjoyed this thread and am considering adding a sub to my system.I am driving a pair of Esoteric MG 10s in a room ~12.5 W x 15 D x 8.5 H. Though I am convinced that more than a single sub is b...
Home Theatre AVR recommendations (Anthem, NAD vs Denon, pioneer, marantz) I own a pair of the 685s driven by an NAD 50wpc amp. No problem driving them with this amp.
Best Way to Spend ~ $2000 for System Improvement Xrayz, I have been following this thread since inception and feel you have received much valuable info. Based on your feedback I thought I might add: I also use an USB/SPDIF converter, owning a V-link and a Audiophileo2 with purepower. I would ke...

How good are the Pioneer sp-22-LR's At their cost they are wonderful. They do the midrange right, and image very well. Are limited in SPL so won’t deliver loudness in a large room. Have not heard better at there cost. (I put together low cost systems for college students as part of ...
Which amp/preamp/integrated for GoldenEar Triton 5's I have heard some triton models however not the 5s. I thought then to be very good. And had heard they are easy to drive. I assume the 5s are totally passive, requiring power to woofers. Are you willing to buy used? If so, I have had great succe... |
