A decent preamp to complete my setup? Wow! Just saw millercarbon's post, 2 minutes prior to my post. My primary system budget pretty much equates to his proposed ratio. Given $2500 I would probably spend somewhat more on speakers and amplification and less on the cables/cones, and avo...
A decent preamp to complete my setup? I agree that the Mani is considered a high quality budget phonostage and would be a good choice. It is very flexible regarding cartridge gain loading. The 4 gain settings, ranging between 30 and 59dB, would allow use of the Saga in either active o...
A decent preamp to complete my setup? One could use a separate phonostge into a Schiit SYS passive into the STA200. Passive and Phonostage could easily be had for $300 (SYS=$50).I own the SYS and the STA 200. The STA200 delivers full power with 0.65 volt input.
Why the facination with integrated amps? So many paths to walk on, and so many reasons to take any one of them.
Need small size speakers for fireplace. Well. seems I am a little late on getting back. I have been using the Dali Zensor 1s since the last post. More recently have tried the NHT Super Zeros. The Dali's are far superior for music, however I am not sure the NHT's don't serve as well for ...
8-16 ohm budget speakers Well, I just purchased a pair of Contrast Audio Model One AS3 speakers from a fellow Audiogoner. Rated at 16ohms nominal and 92dB sensitivity. Been almost a 3 year journey. Will get back regarding my thoughts once I have given the ST-70 a go with...
Is there an rca input selector box audio only 2ch in 1 out? Another vote for trying the SYS used full open.
Inverted Phase Preamplifiers with REL Subwoofers If a sub is 180 degrees out of phase with the main speakers wouldn't there be a suck-out of those bass frequencies where there is a crossover overlap?
Impedance match Excellent explanations herein!
Looking for Advice To Build a Small System Around Thorens Turntable I would reserve some of your budget for the possibility of needing or wanting a new cartridge. Look for a speaker that is reasonably sensitive (85+dB) and does not drop below 4 ohms impedance. Therefore most 50-100 watt amplifiers will serve, give...
Looking for ic Sorry I missed the speakers you listed. I agree with Elizabeth that your Marantz amp should provide the needed power for the Bronze speakers unless your room is exceptionally large. I find that the Audioquest cables are well made. I buy them used.
Going back to basics I also use a 2-channel (or 2.1) system for video. I think your approach, selling the center and surround speakers and processor, would be a good way to go. I would keep the amp for now as you are satisfied with it. Can always change that out if de...
Looking for ic Check out used Audioquest Sidewinder or Copperhead cables. Should find ones in your price range. What speakers are you using? The power handling spec doesn't help much. Check out the impedance and sensitivity specs. Problem there is that manufactur...
Opinions on Dacs... I use the PS Audio DL III in a second system. For USB I use a USB?SPDIF converter into the coax input. PS Audio did produce a replacement for the DL III that has asynchronous USB. Forgot what they called it.
First DAC: Metrum-MHDT-Rega-or? I think you made a good choice. Yes, please let us know what you think of this DAC. |
