Lightning quick DYNAMIC amp in the under $1000 range Mrdecibel, I went back to check the NuForce specs on the STA200, and realized my mistake. Sensitivity is even lower than I reported. I stand corrected. One could drive many phonostages via a passive to this amp. Provided other electrical parameter...
Lightning quick DYNAMIC amp in the under $1000 range I own the Newforce STA 200 mentioned by smrex13. It provides 80wpc into 8ohms, however no more than that into 4 ohms. It is highly sensitive, reaching full power with 0.65V input and has 51Kohm input impedance, making it a good choice for use with...
Home made treatment to reduce Bass bloom or resonance in a room? Check out ATS acoustics, Piper City illinois. Have a web site. Sell material for making your own panels. Good people to work with. I am not affiliated, just a happy customer.
Amplifier design parameters required for a good match for high (16+) ohm speakers? Thanks Ralph! As it turns out, I may become an owner of another ST-70. Same vintage as the one I had you refurbish in spring of 2016. I will be giving you a call regarding doing same work on it should ownership happen.

To Sell or Keep? I would not be in a hurry to sell it until I have listened to the new pre for a good length of time. Have regretted selling a piece of gear in haste, more than buying one. Doubt the BAT will depreciate much over the next year.
Connect Pre-out to Pre-amp Well your Denon ARV may not have a tape loop. The output of such a loop would be labeled 'record out' or 'tape out'.Otherwise you can use the pre out. I would set the volume on the AVR to a point that it matches volume level with other sources con...
Amplifier design parameters required for a good match for high (16+) ohm speakers? Forgot to add that the manufactures rated sensitivity was based on 1 watt, not 2.83V. This is what seems consistent with the loudness I obtain when comparing to other 8 ohm speakers having 88-89dB sensitivity at 2.83V. My assessment is based on ...
Amplifier design parameters required for a good match for high (16+) ohm speakers? Ralph,I find the paring of the Contrasts with the ST-70 to be quite adequate in my 12'x15' acoustically treated room. Bass has improved with playing time. The Contrast are certainly revealing such that for my tastes best mated to warmish SS or tub...
Connect Pre-out to Pre-amp If you only want to use the Denon phonostage you can connect the record out (provided your Denon has one) which is a fixed output bypassing much of the Denons preamp functions. Volume is only controlled by the Cary pre.
Amplifier design parameters required for a good match for high (16+) ohm speakers? Ralph, I haven't put many hours on my ST-70 since I had you refurbish it in spring of 2016. However I now fell in position to do so. Took a long time for me to find a complimentary set of speakers I could afford. I have never any doubt that my S...
Amplifier design parameters required for a good match for high (16+) ohm speakers? Rodman, Thanks for the additional info! I have taken a brief look at the additional links. I intend to peruse all the links provided again and possibly set up an upgrade project with my ST-70. Won't happen in the near future however, other things...
Amplifier design parameters required for a good match for high (16+) ohm speakers? Rodman, Thanks very much for the additional info. Yes, I will likely shop for a different set of tubes and check out the Mullards offered by Tubedepot. I don't know when the Conn 7199 tubes were manufactured or how many hours are on them. I bought...
NAD C 375BEE Integrated Amp Replacement Recommendations I am not sure you will find anything that would make for a significant improvement over your NAD at your budget. If I were looking for an $2500 integrated, I would look at the Vincent SV337Mk. Sold by Audio Advisor. |
