Any experience with Audio Experience A2 preamp ?
I have the A2 balanced line stage from Ys Audio. It is a fine sounding preamp. My only quibble is that there are volume controls for left and right channels rather than a single control. It does not cast a sound stage as wide or deep, nor is as to...
need help on transparent sounding 12au7 tubes
A true West German Telefunken may be what you are looking for. (Careful as there are many East German Telefunken look a likes). You might try Andy Bouman at Vintage Tube Services. Before I would do that, however, and if you have not already done s...
Jadis DA30: fuse keeps blowing
I am not sure that you can just "swap tubes around", and, now knowing that you've done just that, have you checked the bias voltages recently?
Tube Life: 6SN7, 6DJ8, 12AT7 et al.
A tube designed to last 10,000 hours with a plate votage of 375 volts will not last 10,000 hours if subjected to a voltage of 450 volts in that application. A tube designed to last 10,000 hours subjected to a plate voltage of 450 volts will last f...
can a tube-o-phile be happy with ss?
Yes. I am running 2 systems: the first is all tubed except for the cd/dac and tuner. Analog delivers the goods on both systems. The second system is in my bedroom, and is solid state. Analog still delivers the goods, and I don't miss the "tube has...
OPINIONS: solid state amps under $2000
Yes. FWIW, IMHO, I recently purchased a YBA Integre DT, with phono stage for my bedroom system (Toshiba sd9200, AR TT with shure v15 cartridge, AR dac 3, McIntosh mr78 tuner, and Martin Logan sl 3's). I leave it on all the time, and it runs cool. ...

Tube Upgrades for Cayin A-50T ?
For fullness and warmth, you might consider the mullard 12ax7's (nos), it's possible that the newer "Groove Tubes" will fill the bill, as I have not heard them as yet, but their price makes them an attractive option. I have not been impressed with...
Slight "Crackling" noise in right channel of amp
You don't mention the rest of your system. In my experience aging tubes (pre-amp?, source component?) can exhibit a "crackling noise". If you have vacuum tubes in your system, check them, or try replacing with tubes that are known to be good.
Atma-Sphere MP-1 Mk II vs. MIII
Check out Ralph Karsten's site at Atma-sphere.com. He has reviews available and papers explaining his components designs. I believe that his phono stages are designed to handle .3mv and above. He has a step up transformer available for lower outpu...
Class A Amp
Rleff comes closest to what you want with his recommendation of the Atma-Sphere. Keep in mind that Rleff discribes only one channel. Check it out on atma-sphere.com, it's really a product to behold!
Need help with a rack
I second Kgturner's vote. I bought the Core Design's racks. They are well made, with audiophile quality constrained layer damped shelving, beautiful fit and finish and packaged very well to avoid shipping damage. Also easy to put together (heavy t...
which tubes for which genre ?
2a3 and 300b triode output tubes used in single ended fashion perform their magic typically on female vocals and small acoustic groups. They are low powered, and require the use special high sensitivity speakers which also should present a high im...
12AT7 tube
The problem with the Telefunkens, and maybe why your dealer is trying to steer you away from them is that there where 2 Telefunken plants. One in what became East Germany, the other in West Germany. The East German plant was shut off from the rest...
