Check out the models from Core on the 'Gon. Simply enter "Core" in the search box and various models will come up. They are really very nice (some are adjustable too).
Tube tester recommendations
Whatever you decide to get make sure that it will test the tubes you use and was recently gone over or callibrated. Also make absolutely sure that the instruction manual comes with it. For me I use a BK DynaJet, one of the latest models before the...
Fisher tube receiver rebuild, Who can provide help
"fisherdoctor.com" I think, will sell you a rebuild kit, with intructions that you could then give to just about any qualified technician in your area. Try googling fisherdoctor and see what comes up. Then try googling "electronic repair columbus ...
Cello Audio Palette/EQ
Yes. I listened to the Cello system when it was in production at their NYC showroom. Very impressive and Very nice indeed, but also very expensive. It is large (about 3/4 the size of an end table and is connected by an umbilical cord to the rest o...
Using Theremin near tube equipment::any danger?
OK. Nice review and explaination on Wikepedia! I personally don't see a problem, but ask more knowledgable folk. While some frequencies may be generated by a vacuum tube in operation, I can't see these affecting the theremin since they would not b...
Using Theremin near tube equipment::any danger?
All right, I'll bite. What's a "theremin"?
What's an Audiophool to do?
See if you can audition Atma-Sphere's OTL lineup. 30 watt stereo, 60 watt, 100, 200, and more monoblocks. I think they will give you exactely what your looking for, IMHO of course. Happy Listening.
Best sounding table radio ever...
In my humble opinion, if your looking for a really nice table radio, it's a Saba.
Classical speakers that do violins well??
You don't mention your electronic chain or room considerations. Assuming no impedance or power issues, consider the Vanderstein's that fit your price range. (Used 3's or new or used 2ce's or 2ci's). Signature line up is their premium version.
6SN7 Tung Sol Reissue Mullard 12AX7 any comments?
Do you really believe that the Reflektor plant retooled everything just to produce a few "Mullards", and, even if they did (HIGHLY UNLIKELY), do you imagine, even for a moment that they use the same materials and can pull identical purity of vacuu...
Tube amps and power consumption
Biasing your JOR will be required about once a year accoridng to your usage. KT 90 output tubes are no longer available, so that you will be using kt88's or 6550's (it won't sound the same as with kt90's). It sounds to me as if you chose a YBA Int...
Jadis Orchetra Reference or DA5/DPL2 ?
I own the JOR and have been very pleased with its sound and performance (however, it is not a good match for low impedance loads), BUT, it does require biasing of output tubes (replacements about once every one to two years) which is a pain in the...
A higher level than Mullard in tube quality?
Different brands and vintages of tubes have a different (not necessarily better) sonic signature. Mullards are "warm", Telefunkens are "neutural", etc., etc. Obviously you like the warm sound of a NOS Mullard. Learn your tube codes (i.e., the Blac...
Tube preamp noise question
On further thought, my suspicion is the 6sn7's are weak or need replacing. If you have a tester, test, but I suppose you don't, so you will need to find someone locally who does (local TV repair shop). The alternative is to buy a new batch of 6sn7...
Tube preamp noise question
I am confused. While your problem sounds like a weak set of tubes, are you sure you are talking about a pre-amp? I believe that the 5881 is a pentode power tube used in amplifiers. If you would, exactly what make and model equipment are you referi...
