Outdoor audiophile gear? Speakercraft makes several resonably priced and good quality models. Outdoor listening is not critical listening, but good speakers do sound better than bad ones. I wouldn't go crazy, though. I replaced the cheap Sony TV speakers with the Speakerc...
mcintosh ma 6100 speaker hook up If your speakers are connected improperly (ie polarities are reversed) they will be out of phase and the sound that eminates will be diffuse rather than focused (discrete sound stage of a normal stereo setup). You will not hurt anything, turn off ...
Best vintage Marantz receivers? I owned a Marantz 2270 from the late 1970's. My son owns it now. It has functioned flawlessly. I had it in the shop once for an inspection and cleaning. It is built like a tank, very heavy, and the analogue dial for the fm tuning has a beautiful b...
Acoustic doors? For a cost effective and functional solution to your problem, consider this: . . . . headphones. You'll get to hear some really good tunes, and your wife will be able to sleep.
Toshiba SD 9200 transport rattle fix? Yes. I have 2 sd9200's. One had the rattle, the other didn't. The "fix" is a new set of rubber platter dampers. I was told that the "fix" would require about $10.oo in parts (the new rubber dampers) and about $15.oo labor (about $25 in all). In re...
Funny noise from Tube system I heard the same from my tubed system, but only out of one channel. I checked the tubes in the preamp, and, sure enough they were bad. I replaced them and that PFFFT sound went away. Roughly speaking my preamp tubes are good for about a year. Try ...

Two amps, one pure class A, other A/B A prime example of this is the Forte Model 4a and the Forte model 6. The intended design was the 4a outputing 50w in class A and sounding smooth as silk. The marketing guys at Forte felt is would be easier to market and sell a 250 w amp (125/side ...

What tubes does a Joule Electra LA150 MKII use? A review on Audiophile Audition of the LA 150 says that the 6350's are fed by Russian 6C45Pi's. I haven't heard of any of those tubes before. Just "Google" Joule Electra LA 150 Mk.II
one channel dead as a door nail First, I don't think your allowing nearly enough time for your pre-amp tubes to warm up. Give them at least a couple of minutes before switching on the amplifier in the future. Then make sure all of your connections are firm. (I had a cleaning lad...
Anyone familiar with: Pickering As I recall, Pickering made some rather fine cartridges in their day. I had one on an old Rek-o-Kut table some time ago. I beleive that one stylus (the diamond) was designed for 33 and 1/3 RPM usage, while the other was for 78 rpm records. You can...
Tubes and forced air cooling ... I had thought that cooling tubes with a fan produced uneven temperatures on the glass envelope and was not a recommended procedure, as this practice would actually shorten tube life as a result. Knowledgable people please chime in on this.
Has anyone heard of this? OK. I'll try to answer as best I can. First, add up the cost of the equipment, furniture, and decorations. Include the cost of treats to sell (storage, refridgeration, warming trays, etc. Then figure out how many square feet you are going to need....
Audio Note Gaku-on Strange. I "googled it" and got lots of hits. Try leaving out the hyphen. Anyway Audioreview.com I beleive, has what you are looking for. Happy Listening. |
