Why does most new music suck?
"Something alluded to but not fully fleshed out is that as I grow older, I find myself less tolerant of what I consider bad music. I think it's one of those rights I think I've "earned" having been here long enough on this mortal coil. Expressing ...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
For me tt has two jobs to do well:1) spin record at proper speed2) isolate from noiseI feel most good tables set up properly and in good working order are proficient at both. tt alone cannot isolate effectively from external physical vibrations an...
Why does most new music suck?
I find new popular music that I like two ways:1) via my 12 year old daughter2) when I hear something I like at the gym in one of the various group workout classes I attend every week. THis is where I find the most new popular stuff I like. Maybe i...
MerrillAudio Veritas Reviewed at Dagogo
Rsimms,Your accounting does not surprise me. I think the Icepower based Class D Bel Canto ref1000m amps I use are as neutral sounding as anything I have heard. That means a lot of what you end up hearing and enjoying will be a function of what you...
Why does most new music suck?
Nice post Simao!Generally, the higher ones standards, the more most things suck. Therefore, one must conclude that in the world of audiophiles, most things musical are sub par and hence suck. The solution is selective moderation. Have high standards...

Why does most new music suck?
Without civility, any hobby like high end audio best characterized as a form of OCD would self destruct in no time. Can high end audio continue to survive? We'll see. If it doesn't, I'm probably still not quite ready to predict the end of civilizat...
Whats on your turntable tonight?

What should I upgrade
A tube pre-amp might be the ticket if not too confined and cabinet can handle it. Much less heat than a tube power amp. You might be able to rig up some quite fan ventilation to help it out if needed.I run a mhdt Paradisea single tube DAC in a tal...
What is the Phono stage you have finished with?
I've settled on ARC phono stage built into my sp16 pre-amp.It's pretty solid top to bottom. Also reasonably quiet for a tube phono device, as long as you use a very low noise tube in tube slot 1 of 3 in the phono section. Anything less than a top ...
Why does most new music suck?
IF not for audiophile etiquette we'd all be offended and nobody would be here anymore.Me: my system is better than your systemyou: no, my system is better than your systemME: no, .......you get the picture!
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
$36000 for a turntable might be justified even if just for aesthetic reasons. But in terms of performance, there should be something concrete other than words to justify the price. Measuring the precision of the speed control using a suitably sens...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
I agree with dev to stick a Timeline on any table that claims to be top notch and show the resulting measurements to prove it.
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
I just think its funny even comparing an old table like the EMT 927 to a modern table costing.....wait....$36,000.IT better be good for that price. Ain't many fish out there likely to take that bait. :^)I'd bet they both are quite good when operat...
Bass leaves after amp warms up?
I'm thinking if the Grado headphone sound floats OPs boat, BRyston + PSB is a reasonable pairing to try. OR maybe he's just more of a headphones guy. That's a lot cheaper and easier to get right most of the time!!! :^)
