What's the greatest bargain in SET these days? Its gotta be. It goes against physics for a small box to be more efficient and have flat extended bass. Just cannot be. But might sound quite good still at low to moderate volume and soft clip increasingly as the volume goes up, limiting dynamics....
Is computer audio a bust? I use Squeezebox Touch for example and started out with .wav for several years and recently converted to FLAC. I do not hear much difference there. I'm pretty sure SB system converts .way source files to lossless compressed .flac anyhow for greate...
What's the greatest bargain in SET these days? The set amp I have actually heard in recent years (at Capital Audiofest) that I mentioned early on here and liked a lot was the GLow Audio Amp 1. I also like the price and compact size. Build quality there would seem top notch as well, direct wiri...

Is high-end audio dying, if not dead already??? For context, back in the 60's and 70's, the sound possible out of most home gear in use for listening to music outright sucked in comparison to today. The shortcoming were clearly apparent in most all cases. From tube tabletop radios to transistor...
Is high-end audio dying, if not dead already??? A better question might be how "high end" must gear be to sound like it?My thought is that like with most technology, good sound is more a commodity item these days and less of a luxury, and it is easier than ever to approach the best the "high en...
Your last concert was to see who and when? I see Uriah Heep is touring smaller venues these days. That could be fun.
What's the greatest bargain in SET these days? Rebbi, I'd be willing to bet the stock tube issue just build down to individual preferences and synergies with their stuff in their specific cases. When different tubes sound different, the maker has to decide which to provide. They can't provide ...
Is high-end audio dying, if not dead already??? You can't be high end if too many others are higher than you.
Is high-end audio dying, if not dead already??? The 99th percentile is grander and more high end then I suppose, and that 100th even more so. |
