Is high-end audio dying, if not dead already???
"I believe its time to start thinking about "high end audio" a little differently and get back to what made us love the hobby in the first place. "Well put. I agree 100%. Technology and user habits move on but the music that has always been the dr...
The future for a current Squeezebox user
Steve,NEtwork streamers targeting audiophiles would seem to be ripe turf for some good new products these days. Its something that would get my attention. What media servers will that be tested with and why no wireless network connection? Thanks.
Why blind listening tests are flawed
"It doesn't matter what a reviewer "thinks"Syntax, are you really Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? :^)
Don't you just hate it when---
I dread it when my vinyl sound heads south for whatever reason, usually cart related. There are so many ways to go wrong and only one way to get it right. I try to never touch it unless I hear something off.Years ago, working at Tech Hifi, Lafayet...
Electrostatic Speakers
Take a look at OHM Walsh speakers for a unique dynamic design and means of operation (wave bending).I liked various dynamic speaker models and owned Maggies prior. I wanted Quad ES-like sound with bigger dynamics and a tad more meat on the bones f...

More expensive cars are bigger and have more stuff in them. . The bigger and more stuff in anything, the more there is to break. And cost more to fix as well. Its all part of the club.

Audiogon is great for what it is, a place to sell and buy and discuss "high end" audio gear. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it, though there are so many ways the site can be made better over time. That does cost money to do it right though. ...
What's the greatest bargain in SET these days?
The GLOW also has the cool glowing color ring around the volume that changes color. :^)My app would be as a headphone amp for both STAX and conventional phones and to perhaps try with my Triangle Titus XS speakers in my wife's sunroom, where small...

It would be nice if audiogon could provide ANY useful information or metrics other than blue book equipment prices (worthwhile to buy when one is considering dropping big bucks on anything here)that might help people navigate through all the noise...

Klaatu and the Beatles. When Klaatu's first album came out, it famously rode the buzz at the time from those who heard it that The Beatles had secretly regrouped and released a new record.Stackridge is another Beatles sound-alike from the seventies...

No doubt that things need not be perfect from a technical perspective in order for good music to be made. Happens all the time. Most everything has some limitations. The key is to understand what they are and how they may or may not be relevant ca...
Is high-end audio dying, if not dead already???
The high end is good for helping determine what is and is not possible at any cost and using that to establish a reference sound.Once you know what that is , then I find that there are practical ways for most to achieve it in most cases with a lit...
What's the greatest bargain in SET these days?
The 5-7 watt SET amps that I have heard do surprising well with even moderately efficient speakers in many cases with many kinds of music. They have their unique charms within their limitations. It takes very large very efficient speakers to get a...
