What's up with the ridiculous offers?!?
Oil barons must be really pissed these days.  I am not in the hifi business but can empathize with those that are.  It's always been a tough way to make a livings itch slim profit margins. Etc. .  I would not want to have to.  Fact is it's easier ...
What's up with the ridiculous offers?!?
Yes it can be insulting but people  get offended by everything these days.   Except Donald Trump.  It's a bad trend.    Low ball offers should be the worse thing to happen.   Why so hard to just ignore and move on?
How are 'Best Of' compilation albums mastered?
Compilations usually good on cd and lesser quality than originals on vinyl historically.   Maybe new vinyl compilations are better but yes quantity usually reduces quality with vinyl in that more modulation in groves means less time per side usual...
I am really disappointed with the hip-hop enthusiasts on Audiogon
The enthusiasts here are apparently not hip and likely have very little hop.
I s Benchmark the "Benchmark"
Coli can you elaborate on the difference?  Thanks.
Do you think audiophiles are the most gullible hobbyists
Mopman. That is funny! Sometimes I also become madman. Mops are more useful I suppose, so thanks.Geoff is a funny guy and I truly mean that. Next thing to work on would be a conscience to go along with it. We all have room for improvements.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Nice recent article from JS on OHM site in his blog. It describes how to use the 4 level adjustments on each 5XXX model OHM. My F5s have these and these controls have been gold for getting things tuned in just right in my rooms. I kinda figured ou...

Geoff is likely the expert on gullible audiophiles. I envision him salivating over this topic.  Unfortunately as a result one cannot take his answers seriously.
When is your Hifi good enough?
The best measure for me I can come up with for if my hifi is good enough or not is how much time I spend listening and how much I look forward to the opportunities. If my interest wains its usually an indicator that something is not right because ...
Bowie is Gone...
David Bowie, multi-talented, often imitated, most influential, always unique.
Should we use ridiculously priced cables to listen to Rap?
Outrageous price wires often have high bling factor, as wires go.   Except not designed to be worn.   Maybe some audiophile rappers or their wire suppliers will start a new trend.Disclaimer:   any seeming reference to stereo types in my posts is p...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I had similar hum when I first inserted Bel Canto C5i into my system to replace previous amplifier.   Turns out source was the cable line into the cable box I had connected as audio input.   Try disconnecting any coax cable signal wire input and s...
FLAC vs WAV
On the grand scale of things that make a difference in sound quality, I have found digital cables and file format (.wav versus flac) to be pretty much the least significant factors. I'm sure YMMV.

Hey Schubert you were right!  Recent Swiss study says Germany is the best country.  US finishes 4th though.   Who paid those guys off? Here are the rankings:1. Germany2. Canada3. United Kingdom4. United States5. Sweden6. Australia7. Japan8. Franc...
Who are the most underground high-end companies
You don’t want to go that far underground most likely. Things heat up fast.I've heard Goto.  Would go there if I could afford it.
