Speakers that open up at low volume levels
Well I do not think there is any speaker that can be said to "open up" better at lower volume than higher.  Things pretty much always open up with volume. Some things to think about though. Is your listening room quiet enough to hear clearly at low ...
pros and cons: beryllium vs ribbon tweeters in sound and emotions terms
I've never heard any of those old full range ribbon Apogees that owners (with proper amplification) tend to cherish and never give up.   Would like to.   I feel the same way about Walsh drivers.  Once you've been there and like it nothing else is ...
Glad we still have 'brick and mortar', and good owners for gear
DCS is top notch and possible SOTA  for D/A conversion.  Prices reflect that.I bet streaming through a DCS DAC would sound just as good and mimimize cost to just the DCS technology that differentiates them.I heard DCS Puccini ( on 6 figure system)...
Neutral electronics are a farce...
Al I agree with all your points.I want my recorded music to convince me it's live, warts and all.   So I want it to be neutral and accurate.  If it sounds any way all the time, even smooth and relaxing, that is not a good thing to me.  Its not goo...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?

How to upgrade in pieces - or - tell me about your journey!
I do neither. I use Subdude platform for floorstanders and Isoacoustics brand stands for monitors. In addition to providing similar isolation, the stands get the monitors off the floor and provide optional upward tilt as needed. There may be other ...

Marketers do what marketers do and get played to do. Almost always involves a spin of some sort, never the complete story. I agree its wrong but what’s one to do except learn to take all marketing claims with a few grains of salt. I’ve worked in p...
Neutral electronics are a farce...
Al, my understanding is that perceived brightness has to do with the fact that our ears do not have flat frequency response and are more sensitive to some frequencies than others, and that some forms of harmonic distortion tend to attenuate those ...

Someone above mentioned monitors in a small room which is normally a perfect fit. Even those on many stands will still interact with floors and can be improved. I use Isoacoustics stands under my Triangle Titus XS monitors in a 12X12 room. Could n...

EBM, if you have suspended plywood wood floors, you should try these under your Magico floorstanders as well. Unless the bass sounds perfect already of course. Magicos may have effective isolation from floors built in already. Dunno. If not whats ...

Badri, I'm pretty sure they can only help.   We'll see.  They look nice under the speakers in any case.    If not, easily returnable to Amazon so nothing to loose really.   Plus if it works it will save you a lot of money down the road by helping ...
