Caravan - does anyone listen anymore?
I've been a Caravan mark for years. I always enjoy listening to them play and the offbeat humor often found in their lyrics and listen frequently still these days.Caravan is one of those groups whose original classic albums still sound best to me ...

Well if it costs as much as it does at least there is something significantly different about it to help make the case rather than just another minor tweak to the same basic technology.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I'll have to give mine a try with my old M&K sub sometime!
My LP couldn't beat my CD, until now
Ericjcabrera,That's a good pick.I'll keep my eyes out and maybe give it a try!
840C and MHDT Havana
HF is not soft with the Paradisea even with stock GE tube.LF, maybe or maybe not with the stock GE tube, depending on taste. LF leaves nothing to be desired with the Tung Sol.
840C and MHDT Havana
Xenithon,Based on my experience with the Paradisea and ability to tweak the sound significantly with different inexpensive tubes, I think you would be very pleased with the Havana. The Paradisea with separateTung Sol equivalent tube in combo with a...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
In my case, before acquiring the newer Ohms, my Triangle Titus 202 with sub was one of my references for great integrated bass. I run both Ohm 100s and 5s in rooms of appropriate size without sub and have zero concerns or reservations regarding ba...

I don't doubt the McCormick unit sounds great. There is something to be said for introducing a few tubes into a system.Probably true the interest in vinyl is higher today than it has been for quite a while. Call it a revolution if you like. One man...

Vac,I suspect the system you describe may truly be the state of the art in phono playback.I would love to hear it!
Cd Player Suggestions
Haysam,Another option worth considering would be to keep the player but run it to a decent tube DAC. I took a similar course with my Denon player and an mhdt Paradisea...this was a fantastic $450 investment used.

What MIT cables are you using? From my experience with them, they can be too bright in the wrong system but sound great in others.I did not care for them much with more SS gear but like them best now with more tubes. Before taking a big financial hi...
one shot: KLH 17 or Large Advents?
Between the two, assuming both in good working order, I'd agree with Etbaby...the Advents are better all around.

Caution regarding 180 gm vinyl.I've heard from others here the quality of many 180 gm pressings is questionable. The quality control of the golden days of vinyl past is rumored to not be there these days.Just repeating what I've heard. Don't know ...
one shot: KLH 17 or Large Advents?
I used to sell both lines 30 years ago. I doubt either ever really went down flat to 30hz.For vintage speaks, I always preferred the Ohm line to either KLH or Advent and so did many of my customers back then who heard both. They were always more o...
Help with buzz / hum that's making me insane r
Sounds like a plan.Only thing else I can think of to be alert to is some recordings may have natural sibilance baked into them for various reasons relating to the production. Just be certain that the recordings you test with are not naturally sibi...
