Company loyalty- What has been your favorite?
I'm very fickle in general.I suppose I've been with Ohm and Linn the longest. Ohm for service, sound and value and Linn for sound and quality/longevity.I'm new to Audio Research but I could see becoming a minion there for quality and sound.I'm sti...
A spousal revelation ... and a tall order. Help
Whoops, I should have checked those amps more carefully.Forget the Ohms. You can do better elsewhere with tube amps.
Smooth treble
"live music sounds much more "smooth" and airy in the high frequency department."Depends on where you are sitting relative to the source.Sit next to a drum set and give the crash symbol a good whack. Chances are it is not so light and airy.

Lucky guy!Consider a in home trial of a larger pair of Ohm Walsh speakers, Walsh 200, 300 or 5 Series 3 or 4 drivers specifically. These are less fussy than most about placement/location and room acoustics and deliver the attributes you're looking...
2-way vs. 3-way
No speaker can be best on the planet until someone thinks it is.
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Chad,Rest with ease that you missed nothing with 8-track.

Sufentanil ,Those Audio Physics are pretty good dynamic speakers from what I've heard. It just may be that the MMGs have a different presentation but in fact do not do anything the APs cannot. I'm sure the APs do large scale dynamics better in any ...
Anyone send back Magnepan MMG's?
Audiojan,You make a very good point that MMG's and other very good yet affordable speakers often do not get mated with the upstream equipment needed to make them shine, which may lead to more mixed reviews. On the other hand, very good yet expensiv...
Smooth treble
Sounds_real_audio,I don't want to put you on the hot seat, but could you mention some specific brands/products that you think fall into this category?
Smooth treble
I did similar to Saki but for the purpose of changing the sound overall based on what I had heard auditioning various reference systems. I did not find the treble per se on my particular system with SS gear problematic at all though. When it occur...
$ 2500 ....Stay with Vandersteens ??...what else ?
If you're looking for a different sound, listen to anything you get a chance to and if you like what you hear, read up on it further. If you like what you have, stay put.
Smooth treble
Smooth means not course or irritating during extended listens.
High End jargon; your take
My take is these words mean different things to different people so make sure you ask questions to truly know what the other person means when they use a high end jargon term to describe something.
