Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Lindisfarne/Jaybo,How about tossing in Stackridge "Pinafore Days" and "Extravaganza".Also Camel "Moonmadness", Caravan "Waterloo Lily", and McCartney "Band On the Run".Also "Bridge Of Sighs" Robin Trower and a lot of early Savoy Brown and Ten Year...
Anyone here have experience with MIT cabling ?
I use the relatively inexpensive Terminator Series ICs. Even these can work some magic to help tighten up and clarify a system. I've liked them better with more recent tube gear I've added than I did with older SS.I also use DNM Reson (warmer, mor...
High End jargon; your take
"Think warm applepie, a t-shirt fresh from the dryer, and Jennifer Connelly's bosom in acashmere sweater."Thanks Tvad.I just realized what it is I really like about this stuff!
gain control issue
I've used the Harrison Labs attenuators for this same purpose in the past. They are easy to apply and work well.
Personal speaker evolution
I remember liking the EPI 100s way back when.Haven't heard them in a long time....
You've Won the Lottery: Your Dream System, Now.
First I'd get the best and most powerful Class D amp for my system. Then I would buy and set up my ultimate listening room. From there, who knows?
Anyone heard new Pretenders CD?
Sweet!I'll have to check it out!
2-way vs. 3-way
I'd agree with Shadorne in general. There are some 2 ways that work particularly well for far field listening as well though. Ohm Walsh and planars like Maggies are two that come to mind. Many other better made 2-ways may also still sound very good...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Reb,I base my gut feel above on the assumption that the Arros will play out against the MWTs similarly to how my Dynaudios play out against my 100s, more or less. With more acoustic, less dynamically demanding material, sitting in the sweet spot, t...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Rebbe,My best advice is trust your ears to determine which sound you will live with most happily over an extended period of time with the music you enjoy. No two speaks will sound the same with the same benefits and disadvantages. This is particul...
Musical Fidelity's USB Ready V DAC
I'd be interested in hearing peoples feedback on the new V series line from MF in comparison to other products.
Used MF Trivista 21 or Benchmark Dac1?
With your system, if your looking to "soften" the sound, I doubt the Benchmark is the right choice. The MF or Bel Canto would be better choices I think.I went through some similar gyrations lately and landed on an mhdt Paradisea and have been very ...
840C and MHDT Havana
The Paradisea is definitely warm and musical, not dark in any way, with either stock GE tube or Tung Sol equivalent that I have used. I use it sourced from both my Denon player/recorder and Roku Soundbridge. Can't speak for the Havana having never ...
840C and MHDT Havana
I suspect the Havana will do well in those areas.HAving heard the 840c prior to acquiring the Paradisea, and based on assertions from others that the Havana improves on the Paradisea, I'm confident it will be significantly different at least, for ...
Caravan - does anyone listen anymore?
IICDIAOAIDIAOY is good also but maybe hasn't aged as well a some others?Canterbury Tales is a "Best Of" package as I recall...nothing wrong with that but Caravan is a group whose original classic albums are the best way to experience them IMHO..
