Some irrefutable truths about rock and roll "The Beatles have become the yardstick that others are measured by. IMHO, "No doubt.Over the years, as I listen to all kinds of new, old and different music, and then re-visit those Beatles songs that still resonate all these years after the fact,...
Squeze Box Question I'm in same boat as Mitch4t only with server, Roku + external DAC. I use the Roku for ~ 80% of my listening currently between music server and web radio. Most of the rest is turntable, with occasional use of FM tuner or CD player, but I tend to ri...
Is dirty power the culprit? So if the problem is indeed dirty/variable quality power, aren't there meters or other gadgets out there that can measure and confirm this rather than guess or assume and possibly avoid a (potentially expensive) wild goose chase?
Some irrefutable truths about rock and roll Hmm, can't disagree about the "Sex Pistols" comment in terms of the epitome of what rock represents as a whole in its purest form.If they were in fact the peak of what rock as a whole represents then it may have been inevitable that rock has been ...
Some irrefutable truths about rock and roll I'm with Audiofeil. As much as I've tried to convince myself otherwise over the years, no other rock and roll act is/was in the same league as the Beatles. It's sad but true.Maybe rock and roll has finally truly died. Maybe still it will be resurr...
Is dirty power the culprit? Are you playing the same source material when comparing?Seems like an obvious thing but, if not, then this is a likely culprit. Not all recordings are created equal. Mood/disposition towards listening is another likely factor.Power? Maybe. That mi...
Squeze Box Question One note with Roku is that the Soundbridge uses a a very simple and conventional remote control device. You have to be within eyesight of the Soundbridge to use it. It won't work from a different room.To control the Roku from a different room you ...
Magnepan vs Ohm/Walsh ? I replaced Magnepan mg 1.3c's that I ran for years alongside original OHM Walsh 2s with OHM Walsh 5 series 3 recently (actually, OHM f-5 series 3 which are Walsh 5 series 3 drivers in refurbished OHM F cabinets). The Maggies were far more refined i...
why so many benchmark dac1's on audiogon? Tomb, mhdt Paradisea or Havana also I believe fits your criteria. I opted to go that way rather than Benchmark initially. I like the Paradisea very much, but now that I am also running a tube Pre-amp (ARC sp-16)that provides some nice tube "magic" ...
Squeze Box Question Wayne,I own a Roku, not Squeezebox, and can only speak about the sound of the Soundbridge's internal DAC. A good external DAC clearly adds value for better sound with the Roku. In my case, I started with the internal DAC and moved to the mhdt Para...
Ohm & Tubes -Part 1 Interesting.Do you think the ARC tube amplification would still be preferred running 100s without a sub or is the sub key to getting good results with the tube amp?
Transport for DAC The Paradisea tube DAC supposedly reduces jitter as long as the jitter at the source does not exceed a certain tolerance as I understand it. Not sure exactly how this works. Maybe someone can explain? It is not the same thing as upsampling and rec...
Squeze Box Question "If I am using a PC, to a good USB DAC like Benchmark or similar, the hard drive based music files, thru a program like ITunes or similar should sound, well great no ?"I think the answer is maybe, depending on exact computer configuration. My under...
Ohm & Tubes -Part 1 "Out Of The Cradle" is another excellent Lindsay Buckingham recording to experience on OHMs.
why so many benchmark dac1's on audiogon? Also, DACs are hot these days for use with music servers and as sound upgrades to many players and BEnchmark is one of the hottest and most affordable good units, thus the large # units circulating. |
