Amps that are "forward" What buc said about hearing is a fact.
? Tube Replacement Question ? I recently replaced the tubes in my sp16 after about two years of fairly heavy use.In my case, the issues I noticed with age was noticeable background noise that was not there prior.I replaced all 6 tubes with Groove Tube Gold 12AX7s from Guitar C...
Totem... Bass? All Totems I have heard have excellent bass FOR THEIR SIZE with the right amp. Most also require a lot (120 w/ch and up) of power and current to bring it out fully also.Love the Mani 2s but not cheap....
Oh how I wish Class D amps ... Tim,If you want Class D to sound good to you bad enough, maybe try building your system around a Class D amp of choice. That would give you a better chance than plugging one into what you have currently and like and expecting that it will sound th...
Most sophisticated and intelligent musician Gotta toss Duke Ellington (not classical for the most part) in the pot just in case he was omitted otherwise.
Amps that are "forward" Interesting question. Are some amps inherently always forward and others not?Could be.I've always attributed that aspect of the sound more to the speakers and room acoustics, but I think I have heard some differences here switching just amps and no...

What is “warmth” and how do you get it? I do not find most systems that I would describe as "warm sounding" to be natural sounding.Pleasant, especially with acoustic string instruments, yes, but not like what I hear live.Electronic music often suffers on a too warm sounding system.GEtti...
Have $500 for digital upgrade - how should I spend Upgrading dac to mhdt (tube or SS) is a good option.
How can anyone afford this ? Move to a low cost rural area. Buy a nice house in teh country with no neighbors and a large empty room that you can make into your own personal concert hall. Take the money you save by not living in NY and buy nice gear and lots of music to liste...

Totem vs Dynaudio To me, Dynaudio is one of the cornerstone brands in high end audio. Just solid, solid and solid all around and hard to beat.Totem is also up there.YMMV.
Totem vs Dynaudio I think it will come down more to personal preference than one being a better match to the amp than the other.Otherwise, check the sensitivity ratings maybe and see if one is more sensitive and more likely to go louder easier if that is a concern ... |
