Is new better than old?
Older speakers in good working order in general may represent better values but that really doesn't matter. Nor does it matter that in general speaker technology may have improved over the years, albeit for a premium The devil is in the details. Y...
what to do with my cat on my speaker grills
Straitjacket?nah, I like the idea of using smells that repel cats nearby and/or keeping the cat out of the room altogether if possible.Declawing can help but not sure how well received that is these days for cats medically. I had an apparently hea...
When does analog compete with digital?
I was listening to some very electric CD tracks by The Cars yesterday.Did not hear a trace of soul there but it was most intense and musically gratifying nonetheless.Had some remastered James Brown playing also the other day. Lots of soul there fe...
Can You Expalin Why Power Cables Do This?
Unfortunately, Macd's explanation is perhaps as plausible as any I can come up with other than its often us that change in terms of what we hear from day to day and not our devices.
When does analog compete with digital?
My Dual 1264 with vintage Goldring cart playing through a vintage Yamaha receiver in my second system is worth way less than $1000 but darn if it does not put out some most enjoyable sounds these days! I've had the Dual and Goldring for a good 20+...

Why not horns?
MJ,So what is handled in your configuration by the JBLs versus the custom horn loaded drivers? Are teh JBLs biampable or is the complete full range speaker in play but fed only a certain frequency range by the dbx acting as a crossover?
Why not horns?
macro,I see it.Its not clear to me what the dbx does and whether a separate crossover of some sort is needed? Thanks.
CD vs. Vinyl
"As far as "easy" is concerned, why would higher-end have to be difficult? "Because it is always harder to do anything really well.Take a look at some of the high end systems on this site and what the owners have gone through to get where they are...
Why not horns?
Macro,Can you provide a single post with the recipe for your speakers including the end cost?PErhaps the info has been provided but I either missed it or it is in too many bits and pieces to soak in cleanly.
