Would you pay to listen?
I have an untrained palate but still enjoy good food. Cost forbids me from indulging except when there's a coupon.I think the fee at a hi-end shop would be simply to dissuade the lookie-lou types. That may work against these stores, long run. I he...
End to All Power Problems
Macdad, I'm afraid that government policy is involved, like it or not. My electric bill is for say.....450KwH per month. Let's just say I could buy a methane genset of 1000KwH per month capacity. The rules make it mandatory that the power company ...
Magnepan 1.7
It would have been neat, Dsper, If you tried a mod or 2 on your MGs. Magnepan is a DIY dream speaker which responds extremely well. You can do anything from a total reframe in real wood to simple crossover or stand additions. The real wood frames ...
Are audiophile speakers turn on for single women?
To answer the question posed in the original subject line, NO.A nice, classy guy with a boom box and a Barry Manilow CD will get more action than a cad with 6 digits worth of Krell / Wilson.
End to All Power Problems
Government policy has a LOT to do with this issue.IF there were huge tax credits for say.....home methane production, you'd see more of it.Likewise, an increase in the tax on fuel for cars would tend to decrease the amount used and 'push' those wh...
Has anyone tried Blue Jeans Cable LC-1 RCA IC?
I use all BJC / LC-1 with the exception of the cable to the sub and the Mogami Balanced from the CD player. Some magnet wire DIY may happen over Christmas when I'm between classes.
End to All Power Problems
6550c, their are 2 kinds of invertors.....True Sine Wave and the 'others'. The 'others' would seem to be pretty noisy, but are good in your car for powering laptops, charging your cell phone or a map light. True sine wave inverters with even modes...
how does current work in an amplifier?
Specs are advisory to the knowledgable and misleading to those who aren't.
how does current work in an amplifier?
Ear is most sensitive to THD at higher frequencies. I'll let the guys that know fill in the blanks. Your ear is most insensitive at very low frequencies......which is why subs can get away with 5% distortion or whatever.....which, if it happened a...
how does current work in an amplifier?
If I'm ever up in LaLa Land, I'll be sure to drop in. Woodland hills is a nice place.I'm way South down the coast in SD. It was where wife and I could afford to buy when we got hitched....back in '86. I love it down here.
how does current work in an amplifier?
I hear about few people who have Mac/Maggie. Not to say it wouldn't work or isn't a great combo.....just not 'common'.Expensive, too, if you go to the MA6900 / MA7000 level.I had a Rotel RB1070 of 130x2 @8 with NO factory 4ohm rating. That should ...
How do the Magnepan 1.7's sound
I think some mildly worked over 1.6s will beat 'stock' 1.7s hands down.....
is a rsl a rogers speaker?
All ported speakers have a double hump.I once had an equalizer with cal'd mic and a warble tone generator. Had to turn down either the 60 or 125hz with my 3600s and it helped a LOT. Room has bunches to do with what you hear, of course. If you got ...
Advantages of bi-wire?
My Maggies come factory ready for bi-wiring/amping.But, since I'm a poor skeptic, I simply changed out the AWFUL Chrome Plated Steel jumpers for some hand-whittled 6ga copper and feel so much better that is sounds better! The wire was 0.40$/foot.
Switcher needed
When I see switch boxes I always am curious...Does the switch type matter? Break before make?ORMake before break? I'd be scared of zapping between inputs.
