ls FM radio even listenable any more?
Lou here, and in Philly, FM is alive and well, at least for me. The 2 college stations, Temple (WRTI 90.1) & UPenn (WXPN 88.5) are what I listen to most. 90.1 does classical all day & jazz at night. 88.5 does an eclectic mix of new music &...
put tube amp on to shelf of a rack
The link shown in your post is not enough space between shelves for all those tubes, IMHO. Even with fans I wouldn’t do it. Get yourself a separate amp stand if you want the amp down low, but heat rises, so I’d personally have the amp more at eye ...
Concrete Audio Speakers...Speaker Enclosures made out of Concrete ?..
In addition to concrete transmission line speakers, Rauna of Sweden also made a small pair of bookshelf monitors with a front bass reflex port - Rauna Tyr II’s. Picture Vandersteens but only 13” tall weighing 30 Lbs each and going down to 40-45 Hz...

Is Wife Acceptance Factor (WAF) sexist?
Iso -  agree with you 100 here.  If only George Carlin & Don Rickles were still alive.  What if they were all audiophiles, Archie, George Jefferson, and Frank Lorenzo?  Jefferson would have the B&O system and Frank Lorenzo would have a Lin...
Is Wife Acceptance Factor (WAF) sexist?
ISO - thank you, your the only one who gets it!“Now Meathead, let me tell something about the Big One, WWII buddy, we didn’t have no Jap, Chink, or your Fag British turntables, it was good ole made in the USA!”Having said that, if Archie were an a...
Is Wife Acceptance Factor (WAF) sexist?
The term WAF has been around forever or at least since All in the Family has been on tv.  Only in this current woke world of pc, 56 genders and General confusion of everyday existence are we questioning now is WAF a sexist term. But since I mention...
Who, do you think, designs the best looking tube-based devices?
audioinfidel - what’s your friggen problem? I mentioned my preferences just like everyone else here did. So why do you have an issue with my comment and no one else’s?You wrote, “The reason I chose specifically devices with tubes is because, in my...
The Best Isolation/ Vibration Footers per component - what's your experience?
I got the original large Mod Squad Tip Toes many years ago to place under a B&K ST140/McIntosh MC225/B&K EX442 Sonata and Music Reference RM5 mkII preamp and was a believer. Let a friend borrow them and never got them back.i was working se...
Threshold, Levinson, Bryston, Krell, ?others? used amps
I’ll mention a couple of real sleepers here that you can get well under $2K, $1K in fact. I agree with the above on the Odyssey Stratos, my friend has one and at 150 wpc it sounds great.B&K EX442 Sonata, 200 into 8, 360 into 4, 75 amps peak to...
Who, do you think, designs the best looking tube-based devices?
I disagree, one of the enticing things about tube gear, besides it sounding better, IMHO, is the nice glow of tubes, and the cool retro way it looks. Why would I want to hide the most appealing qualities of a tube amp? We are all entitled to our o...
Streaming Thru the Cambridge Audio Azur 840C DAC
Forgive my ignorance but won’t I be able to do the same thing using my iphone as a remote with the mono price or the chrome cast?  What are the advantages of spending so much more on the Node if I’m going to use the DAC in my CD player?  Thanks!
Streaming Thru the Cambridge Audio Azur 840C DAC
The Monoprice certainly seems cheap enough :)Someone also told me I could get a Chromecast Audio device and an Optical to miniplug to plug it into the Optical output on the Azur and then use my IPhone or IPad to control Spotify.is the CC better th...
