Considering getting a CD player (again). Used? New? Criteria?
Ever since I moved my 600+ cd collection out of their jewel cases and into notebooks to save space, I just don’t listen to cd as much as I used to.  So I also was wary of spending a lot of money on a CD player.Im also old school and my other unit ...
Cool running amplifier

Dreaming of a DIY 8W Class A amp designed by Nelson Pass?
Thank you Erik!Tomorrow I'll be receiving an inexpensive Amp Camp clone that appears to be very well made; however, it's only 5 wpc instead of 8.  If it weren't for this thread, I would have probably never considered one of these.  Many thanks!  L...
The 5 stages of making a bad audio purchase
Funny post! But one of the steps that has yet to be addressed here is: Internet Window Shopping. At what point does one go through this stage, or like myself, I am constantly in this stage no matter how content I am with my system.Perusing EBay, Cr...

they alll seem somewhat sterile and lifeless. IMHO, they all need a tube preamp to warm them up@lou_setriodes Nelson understands the importance of lower ordered harmonics since you can't eliminate distortion altogether (this is a lot bigger top...
Beware: New (at least to me) scam being run on Audiogon members
I too, am not seeing the foul play here; however, it does pay to be vigilant none the less. When I sell items on the USAM site, I specify that only USAM members only can contact me and notice at least 25% of people contacting me have newly registe...
Dreaming of a DIY 8W Class A amp designed by Nelson Pass?
Good, as I'm not a huge fan of the chip amps.  I've owned at least 7-8 of them with different chips and while they all sound pretty amazing, in the end, they alll seem somewhat sterile and lifeless.  IMHO, they all need a tube preamp to warm them up
