Lowest priced MC thats better than a Premium MM?
Aberyclark, sorry I did not see your phono specs until now. If the 100 ohm load resistance at your MC inputs is fixed, you ought not to try to drive it with a low output MI, because those have a high enough inductance regardless of the stated inte...
Crackle and hiss on some albums
If you can take equal pleasure in both media, go for it. For me RBCD is elevator Muzak. Good for background music at a party. ( Not talking about hi-Rez digital.)
Crackle and hiss on some albums
The vast majority of my LPs are quiet on any of my 5 TTs. If an LP has objectionable noise, it goes to the recycle bin. I’m feeling a bit sorry for the vinyl martyrs. RBCDs leave me cold.

Not "very often noisy", unless your collection was derived by shopping at Goodwill or at yard sales, but occasionally noisy, yes. GHD, When you say it is your "experience" that turntables can enhance or reduce ticks and pops, do you mean to say t...
Crackle and hiss on some albums
GHD, I cannot quite visualize how a "better turntable" would mitigate the noise from noisy LPs, if we agree that ticks, pops, and other sorts of noise associated with vinyl playback are due to mistracking, dirt in the grooves, or a worn out LP.  N...

How are you checking for dust? Visual inspection is futile unless the LP really is filthy. If you’re buying used LPs it may be that some are worn out; badly worn LPs can look perfectly ok by visual inspection. But if there’s simply gunk in the gro...
Best investment; cartridge or line stage?
Except the OP asked linestage vs cartridge, which seemed an odd dilemma.
Technics SL-1200GAE or VPI HW-40 or …?
As regards the idea that a mat should be of the same durometer (hardness) as an LP, one ought to keep in mind that that strategy is a two way street. Rumble or any other noise that can emanate from the bearing or motor can be transmitted into the ...
AR-XB. Is it worth a new motor?
Dear Elliot, Your last post is full of holes. First you say, in caps, that the majority of styli are worn on one edge only. Doesn’t that suggest that "the majority" of us have been using either too much or too little AS? So, if the AR-XB tonearm d...
AR-XB. Is it worth a new motor?
What Palasr said. Replace that capacitor. There’s probably enough friction at the pivot to provide some natural anti-skate.
VPI Prime Sig/Lyra Delos / Feedback ...help!
No way this has anything to do with tonearm wires. And yes, white is L channel hot, if it mattered.
Thinking about switching cartridges.
I do suppose with no supporting data that a synthetic diamond is mor likely to display those imperfections you describe than would a natural diamond, but it’s pure guessing.
Cueing Lever Issue - Repairable or Replace?
Do you have the owners manual?
Thinking about switching cartridges.
Which do you prefer, press fit or a big gob of glue? And which adds more superfluous mass to increase inertia?
Thinking about switching cartridges.
Tomic, I’ve had the 17D3 in my 505 with a CF headshell, possibly in my FR64S, also in CF headshell, and now in Viv Float in CF with shim. It sounds best in the Viv without a doubt. And now I will proceed to my fallout shelter.
