Thinking about switching cartridges.
Unless you’re getting engaged, what difference does it make whether a diamond stylus is of natural or man made origin? None, IMO.

Made me think of The Maestro, on Seinfeld.

Not to put too fine a point in it, but doesn’t a stylus get polished by the groove and wouldn’t that process eventually negate or render irrelevant the factory original state of polish? Within the first 50-100 hours I would think.

And of course if you really must have very low effective mass, there is always the ADC LFA2, 6g total. https://www.vinylengine.com/library/adc/lmf-2.shtml Three of my favorite cartridges have very high compliance, the Ortofon MC2000, which vexes...

Pindac, Thank you very much for the URL.  I have to wonder about the weight of those brass screws, since they are not included in the 5g total.  Regardless, this CF headshell is lighter than any of mine.
Cartridge Change Overhang Difference-Fixed Headshell
I called it “yip”. I have no idea why. Sorry.
Victor UA-7082 Arm, Rubber Washer at Rear Counterweight Tube: Sag/Repair/Fitting Damage.
Re the sag, I agree.  Chakster and I had a disagreement over his contention that any JVC tonearm with a sagging counterweight is per se "broken".  My position is that a certain amount of sag, so long as there is still no metal on metal contact in ...

17mm, to be exact.
Thinking about switching cartridges.
I own a Dynavector 17D3.  I think that D series all have one-piece diamond cantilever/styli.  So if and when the stylus wears out, you would have to replace both if you want to preserve originality.  Am I correct in this belief? (Raul?)  If so, do...
Victor UA-7082 Arm, Rubber Washer at Rear Counterweight Tube: Sag/Repair/Fitting Damage.
Now that Richard dredged up this old thread on the Victor 7 series tonearms, I am stimulated to finally fix my 7045.  But also let me say that these are very well conceived tonearms that are very modern in design approach in most ways.  They deser...
Cartridge Change Overhang Difference-Fixed Headshell
The YIP is designed for the tonearm, not the cartridge, so far as I know, which is not much because I have never ordered one. In any case, just adjust for the 0.5mm, if you think you can. I personally don’t think most of us can mount a cartridge w...
Questions Regarding Installing a Wheaton Triplanar On A SOTA Cosmos
Can you name the specific brand and model, because I own several CF headshells, made by Yamamoto or Oyaide, and they all weigh around 8-10g. Vintage headshells usually made of thin, perforated aluminum would weigh less.

I’m running my MC2000 on my Reed 2A with the red cedar arm wand. Probably effective mass in the 10-12 Gm range. No problem. Anyway the TP is in that same range for effective mass. So in that hat respect you’re no better off with the TP. If you wan...
Cueing Lever Issue - Repairable or Replace?
The owners manual is available on line. It states you got an Allen head wrench with the TT expressly for adjusting the cue. Read the manual.
Cueing Lever Issue - Repairable or Replace?
Look carefully on the column that houses the piston that moves vertically to push up on the arm wand.  Be sure to inspect it from all aspects. The set screw(s) will be very tiny, usually. It’s hard to believe the cuing is not adjustable. Moreover ...
