MC-MM-MI CARTRIDGES . DO YOU KNOW WHICH HAS BETTER QUALITY PERFORMANCE? REALLY? I’d like to be present at a shootout between the Hyperion and a Grado Epoch3, two of the most expensive MI cartridges money can buy. And then I’d like to compare them to a B&O MMC1 or some others of the great vintage MI cartridges that never c...
TT AC Motor Controller If money is such an object, I’d look for a pre-owned VPI SDS or even one of their earlier efforts. Better than nothing. But I dunno what to tell you about those cheap items you’re talking about.
MC-MM-MI CARTRIDGES . DO YOU KNOW WHICH HAS BETTER QUALITY PERFORMANCE? REALLY? Here are stereo separation data, confirming >36db at 1kHz for the stereo version, and other pertinent data from the Upscale website. Can you find another cartridge with better numbers? I’m sure you can. My only point was these numbers are very ...
MC-MM-MI CARTRIDGES . DO YOU KNOW WHICH HAS BETTER QUALITY PERFORMANCE? REALLY? I’m sorry but where do you see a claim that any mono cartridge affords stereo separation of any sort?
ultrasound record cleaning machine damaged my records Cleeds, I drive a well known German automobile. Can you name it with any certainty? No. I would have guessed that US might damage an LP by affecting high treble frequencies first, since those are encoded by the most tortuous grooves. So I’m a ...
MC-MM-MI CARTRIDGES . DO YOU KNOW WHICH HAS BETTER QUALITY PERFORMANCE? REALLY? If your amygdala knocks on your door, pretend you’re not home.
ultrasound record cleaning machine damaged my records Find out the power in Watts and the frequency of your RCM. Also disclose the length of time your LPs were exposed, how many LPs in the bath, spacing between them, etc. Then you might get some informed responses.
MC-MM-MI CARTRIDGES . DO YOU KNOW WHICH HAS BETTER QUALITY PERFORMANCE? REALLY? I think you’re taking your own thread off its rails, Raul. SS do publish channel separation data for Hyperion, >36db at 1kHz, if memory serves. Our previous disagreement about response data had to do with RIAA accuracy, not cartridge output.
ultrasound record cleaning machine damaged my records I’m not surprised that a US RCM could damage an LP under extreme conditions. After all, the major use of US baths is to clean and polish. Polishing always involves wearing the surface you want to polish.
Changing from European to American power supply on clearaudio emotion TT Likewise the SOTA Eclipse motor with speed control would probably make your Clearaudio better than ever, if the cost is not prohibiting.
Andy Kim Needle Clinic There’s a whole Andy Kim thread available if you want to declare your gratitude.
MC-MM-MI CARTRIDGES . DO YOU KNOW WHICH HAS BETTER QUALITY PERFORMANCE? REALLY? Take a closer look at those data that used to come routinely in the box with a new cartridge. They often show errors from flat of 1db. My other point was that no magnetic cartridge is flat in its output, because output goes up with frequency due t...
MC-MM-MI CARTRIDGES . DO YOU KNOW WHICH HAS BETTER QUALITY PERFORMANCE? REALLY? Actually it’s rare for a manufacturer to quote frequency response with upper and lower db boundaries. For a cartridge, +/- 1db between 20 and 20khz would seem to be excellent, keeping in mind we’re not talking about RIAA accuracy in a phono stage....
MC-MM-MI CARTRIDGES . DO YOU KNOW WHICH HAS BETTER QUALITY PERFORMANCE? REALLY? Raul, I’ve never heard the Hyperion, but to be fair an error of +/-1db, as quoted for it, does not allow for 2db of error at any single frequency, as I’m sure you know. Furthermore the Hyperion excels at channel separation and at a few other stand...
Issue with balanced connection between Schiit Skol Phono and Thorens TD-1601 This an easy fix but hard to unravel without knowing more about the Schiit gear. My guess is that the wiring between TT and phono is set up for SE operation such that the negative phase of balanced is seeing ground. This is assuming the schiit gea... |
