AT ART-9 vs Audio Note IQ3
So, Invictus, apparently you have listened to both the ART7 and the ART9 in the same system, on the same (SME V) tonearm, and you conclude that the ART9 is superior.  Can you say more, in more detail, about why you prefer one vs the other AT cartr...
AT ART-9 vs Audio Note IQ3
Probably you are hearing the mounting hardware (tiny nuts and bolts) rattling around in their container, but I wouldn't say for sure. The notion, promoted apparently by AT, that the ART7 is "more for classical music" (compared to the ART9) is a bun...
SL1200GAE New Tonearm
You might ask Ralph Karsten (Atma-sphere) whether the standard 9-inch Triplanar will mount on the new SL1200GAE.  If it does, very good choice.  A 12-inch version of the TP is now available, as well.  I own both a 10.5-inch Reed 2A and a 9-inch TP...
TIME'S CELEBRATION: ORTOFON FIRST CENTURY ANNIVERSARY ! ! ! ! !
Invictus, On VA, one of the inmates posted that with his SME V, the new Ortofon Century will give a resonant frequency of about 10Hz, smack in the middle of the desired range.  So maybe you ought to give it a thought for use with your SME V.  For ...
Technics 1200 Critic Fremer Praises the newer 1200G
How about some specifications for the PLX1000?  Fit and finish are one aspect of "value", but what about the technology built into the turntable?  We know that the new SL1200GAE/GR/G is different from the old SL1200 in every possible way, except, ...
Would a Technics SL-1200 MK2 be an upgrade from a Denon DP-31L?
Dear Raul, I don't challenge your facts so much as I am surprised to read your post stating that the Denon servo mechanism (as used in the DP31L?) is "bi-directional".  Can you cite evidence for that?  JVC claimed publicly that the TT101 (and mayb...
SAEC Making Tonearms Again!
Just to add that SP10s used in broadcasting were usually seated into a very massive counter-top (for want of a better word to describe a broadcast booth).  They weren't just sitting on top.Raul and I had this argument long ago.  I believe DDs need...
SAEC Making Tonearms Again!
Invictus, Thank you for your civil response to my perhaps intemperate questions.  Funnily enough, I would rank those Goldmund turntables as among the worst, most over-rated DD turntables I have ever heard, starting with their very badly implemente...
AT ART 1000 vs London Reference vs Ana Mighty Sound 103.3
Woe to the audiophile who uses a Decca cartridge in a totally undamped tonearm.
SAEC Making Tonearms Again!
Invictus, Please be specific.  What Technics/Denon/EMT turntables, exactly, did you "try"?  What was the context?  On what grounds would you say that the Michell and the SME turntables are "modern"?  Neither brand has changed their product line mu...
Why Isnt Techincs 1200 Considered Audiophile?
melm, Is this like the Emporer's New Clothes?  Only the most discerning are able to see that he is not naked.  Or that the SL1200 is not as good as it sounds.
AT ART 1000 vs London Reference vs Ana Mighty Sound 103.3
I hope my own ART7 will also continue to improve with time and hours of use.  I had the distinct feeling it took a step backward 2 nights ago, but that can also happen during the break-in period.  Not all the changes that cartridge goes through du...
SAEC Making Tonearms Again!
Why is everyone trying to strangle the new baby? It may well be that the new SAEC has been corrected with respect to headshell offset angle and alignment geometry. Why not keep an open mind?
SAEC Making Tonearms Again!
Invictus, No one who seriously examined an SME V would not say that it is a very high quality product, in terms of construction, but just to be accurate, ABEC7 is not the highest possible precision rating.  If that's your fetish, you want ABEC9.
SAEC Making Tonearms Again!
Good work, Raul.  Of course, the SME V may not have continued to use a knife edge bearing.  I'm sure we will be told.Halcro, I've never owned an SAEC tonearm, but my recollection just from reading on this site, VE, VA, is that the 308N is the one ...
