Dynavector DV20X2H or DV20X2L
So, you must know, Rob.
Sound from my turntable is veiled (like behind a curtain)
Rob, The only Discwasher brush I know of is designed to clean LPs before play, not styli.  Discwasher makes a solution to be used with that brush that does probably contain a low concentration of isoprop, but the OP seems to have used undiluted is...
Sound from my turntable is veiled (like behind a curtain)
Be very careful about putting pure alcohol directly onto your stylus. Alcohol may dissolve the glue that holds the stylus to the cantilever, and soon you will be playing LPs with a cantilever and no stylus. Styllast ,the company, makes products s...
Lenco Turntable L75 question
Ralph, In replacing the idler wheel, which aftermarket part do you prefer?  My own Lenco was purchased NOS.  Thus I have had no need to replace its idler wheel, and there are aspects of the available replacements that give me pause.  Low mass woul...
Harmon Kardon ST-7 with Rabco Tonearm
"These are some of the most sought after turntables from that mid-70's era!"  Really?  If I remember correctly (and please do correct me if not), that turntable has a built-on version of the Rabco SL tonearm, only instead of the motor-drive pullin...
Schitt turntable anyone?
You could tell from that video that the Schiit is not as attractive as a Rega P3?  The lighting and the photography were so poor that I wouldn't venture a guess, myself.  But the Schiit does seem, based on verbal description, to be of a quality in...
AT ART 1000 vs London Reference vs Ana Mighty Sound 103.3
Interestingly, my Beveridge amplifiers are signed inside by the initials "RM", using magic marker, and dated 1979.  Or maybe only one of them is.  RM worked with Harold Beveridge back then. I knew that RM had an all-tube mod for my amps (which hav...
AT ART 1000 vs London Reference vs Ana Mighty Sound 103.3
We took a long vacation in June, to visit our son in Tokyo.  During that time, the ART7 sat without use in our chilly basement, where I keep my second system.  I fired it up again only last week, to see what was happening with the ART7.  I still d...
Schitt turntable anyone?
It might "kill" products in its own price range, and up to $1000 or so.  (Inexpensive Pro-ject and Music Hall turntables, for two examples.) But no, I doubt it will kill "giants".  However, I predict that some of those who buy it will swear that i...
Speed accuracy- how accurate is accurate?
I think you and I have gone back and forth on this subject in the past. The issue with the voltage going to the turntable motor could be of two sorts. In one case the motor can directly radiate EMI which can affect the cartridge. This would mostly...
Speed accuracy- how accurate is accurate?
By most accounts, the iPhone method is not the most accurate way to measure platter speed, but it puts you in the ballpark. So I would not conclude that the speed error of your turntable amounts to the difference between what you measured and 33.3...
Nature of Koetsu carts
The tonearm/cartridge combination is much more critical than is the turntable/cartridge relationship.  However, you've got the right type of tonearm for a Koetsu, so I say yes. The Ikeda should be ideal for a Koetsu.
SP10mk2: OMA Graphite plinth vs.Dobbins plinth
Dear Raul, the mat on my star sapphire series 3 was most assuredly the original felt mat. Perhaps the dealer glued it to the platter before he sold it to me, but for whatever reason it was glued to the mat, and the surface was a felt like materia...
Have cartridges been known to fail (Grado)?
But still, the odds are that two cartridges that were stored under identical conditions for eight years are not going to fail in exactly the same way with no output in either channel. I think the OP needs to re-view his set up. Most likely he’s m...
Upcoming Technics SP-10R (100th Anniversary Model)
And last year, Pani thought that the Audio Teknika ART9 was the greatest cartridge ever. (My deliberate exaggeration of his opinion.) This year he is on to something else and has sold the ART9 He is only human like you and I. Why hinge your thinki...
