ADC 26 BEST PRITCHARD CARTRIDGE EVER? or BEST CARTRIDGE EVER? My post was an attempt at humor, more than anything else, and I apologize if I changed the subject to something irrelevant.
SAT Comparison Dear bdp, Surely the person who can afford a $48,000 tonearm has already built the acoustically perfect listening room that you aspire to. It’s not a question of one or the other.
ADC 26 BEST PRITCHARD CARTRIDGE EVER? or BEST CARTRIDGE EVER? Since I doubt that I will ever find and buy an ADC 26 or 27 cartridge, I am focusing my attention on the eternal debate between chakster and nAndric over the true origins of the glanZ MFG 61 phono cartridge. Surely, that is the most important is...
Current injection (amplification) phono stages As I recall, after researching this type of phono stage, I came to the conclusion that there is an internal theoretical contradiction. That is, for ideal transfer of current you would want zero impedance at the input of the phono stage. But in fac...
Current injection (amplification) phono stages I think I started a thread on this type of phono stage some time ago, maybe not here. After reading Fremer's review of the BMC MCCI, I developed a strong curiosity to try it out. I think Fremer was trying to underplay the fact that he actually f...
SAT Comparison What you said is partly why I won’t bother to try. I am skeptical of trying to judge an analog sound via a digital process.
Manley Chinook with (very) low output MC ZYX? tre, I am getting a bit confused here. I gather now that your cartridge drives a Chinook which in turn drives a Bryston linestage with an additional 15db of gain after the phono gain. You've got gain to spare, even if your Chinook itself only su...
SAT Comparison Let's keep bumping this thread until Fremer reveals what tonearm was on what recording and how that contrasts with listener preferences. I personally am far too jaded and lazy to listen for myself, but I am interested in how the $48,000-SAT will ...
Technics SP 15 SP 25 Armstrod sorry about autocorrect error in your name.
SAT Comparison Which is why my wife can always hear the phone conversation, when I am planning to go out for a drink with friends. However, she often cannot hear me when I ask what’s for dinner.
Technics SP 15 SP 25 Armstrong, have you recapped your SP 15? There really is no reason for it to be dodgy. It is not in the nature of a technics turntable to be dodgy. However turntables with 30 or 40-year-old capacitors inside can be dodgy.
ADC 26 BEST PRITCHARD CARTRIDGE EVER? or BEST CARTRIDGE EVER? Your experience supports my side of my discussion with Chakster. The materials of which a cartridge is built and the shape of its stylus are not necessarily guidelines to excellence.
ADC 26 BEST PRITCHARD CARTRIDGE EVER? or BEST CARTRIDGE EVER? 99, Do you refer to "sibilance"?Thanks for your response, Raul. I gather that the AT 1503 must be a low mass tonearm; is your own tonearm also low in effective mass?I like probably a few others of us took a look on eBay for the ADC 26/27. No luck.
ADC 26 BEST PRITCHARD CARTRIDGE EVER? or BEST CARTRIDGE EVER? Dear Raul, you and I both agree on the central importance of the tonearm in determining how a cartridge sounds. The tonearm and cartridge form a system of their own. So please tell me why you wrote that very long review without mentioning the act...
Is a GREAT turntable under $2000 possible??? Chakster is using his Vulcan mind-meld on you. Zu speakers next. |
