Who Is An Expert On Acutex Cartridges?
I own a DV 501 tonearm also, but I have never used it. Years ago it was given to me by a close friend who has since passed away, and I believe he never used it either. So in effect  mine is brand new. Those who have used both the DV 505 and the 50...
180g … It’s All Hype !
Although I don't have all ~5 of the Miles Davis Quintet LPs, I do own at least 3 of them on Prestige.  Not sure I would spend the bucks again for yet more re-issues of them.  Not all 5 of the Classic re-issue are terrible, just one or two in parti...
180g … It’s All Hype !
adrobitko, The LP in your photos looks to be covered with white specks of something, which could have happened as a result of static electric charge on the LP surface, created in the process of removing it from the sleeve.  (That's all it takes.) ...
Please Help T3F problems
I saw the Reference ensemble at a high end dealer's showroom, once, but do not recall having heard it.  It was really a milestone product in the sense that it blew away previous conceptions of what even "expensive" turntables should cost.  I would...

Which you like, I guess. Yes? If I recall correctly the T3F made its first appearance on the Reference as part of an ensemble that also included the dedicated stand.

Dan, I think you are inferring that you like the LPM320 slightly above the ART9.  There's no shame in that, in my opinion.  Timeltel, I finally auditioned the B&O MMC20CL in its B&O Saturn V-like adapter.  The assembly is so light I could...
Leben RS-30EQ Phono Preamp Info
Not a good idea to store the Herron or any other electronics in a garage, unless it’s temperature controlled and dry. Maybe you meant it metaphorically.
Please Help T3F problems
Mijo, The "T3F" refers to the Rabco-like tonearm that was marketed by Goldmund, originally I think with their massive Reference TT, which was then the most expensive TT/tonearm combo available, at least on this side of the Atlantic and Pacific.  I...
Morch DP-8 arm on a Helix Two turntable
You mean the Schroeder and the Kuzma, don’t you? I actually don’t disagree with the premise there is a loose connection between the Vestigial and the Dynavector. They are both pivoted tonearms, and they both dissociate vertical from horizontal mot...
recommended oil for well tempered spindle cup
Since the spindle and bearing of your WT TT are unlike any others, why not follow the advice from Firebaugh? The truth is that almost any good lubricant without additives will work.
Morch DP-8 arm on a Helix Two turntable
Because this thread was brought to the fore, I see now that in March, 2021, Mijostyn likened the Dynavector tonearms to a Transcriptors Vestigial tonearm. Heaven forebid!  I have to guess that Mijo never used a Dynavector.  Very different. I am no...
recommended oil for well tempered spindle cup
So Bill, are you saying NOT to use a single weight, low viscosity, nondetergent, synthetic motor oil, which could also be called an "engine oil"?  Sounds like you used more ordinary engine oil (likely to be multiviscosity and with additives includ...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
That must have been fun. You mention that the internal phono stage of the EMT927 was used.  Was it also used with the other 3-4 TTs in the shoot-out?  It is unusual that you and your friends were nearly as enthusiastic about the 950 as you were ab...
Who Is An Expert On Acutex Cartridges?
Timel, I have always felt, and occasionally stated here, that for high compliance cartridges, in theory there is not much energy that needs to be dissipated from the cartridge body, because the cantilever and suspension dissipate most of it.  I wo...
recommended oil for well tempered spindle cup
I am sure your direct experience is more cogent than my guesswork, but one might think that with a stretchy belt, higher viscosity would engender more belt stretching which might lead to more speed irregularity.  Just thinking out loud. Anyway, my...
