Cartridge incompatibility, Soundsmith and Luxman
Changing the phono load resistors is neither a mod nor a tweak in my book. But why do you hold the opinion it shouldn’t be done?
Thoughts on the various platter materials used in Pro-Ject's midrange turntables?
He’d have to buy two turntables to try two different platters.

Dgob or Raul or anyone, last year I picked up a defective MF2500. It plays music but sounds strident, shrill, and distorted. Andy Kim more or less declined to work on it, either because he didn’t feel it was worth the cost of his effort or because...

I think I was a little too emphatic in my statement about Pro-ject. They seem to have many satisfied users. I am no expert on mid or low cost belt drive TTs.
Thoughts on the various platter materials used in Pro-Ject's midrange turntables?
Using 3 different materials on 3 different models from one company indicates the absence of any coherent theory at Pro-ject. So I wouldn’t buy a Pro-ject at all. You don’t say whether any or all of these come with a mat. Aluminum platter with mat ...
bellari Pa 532 passive preamp question.
Rocky. what type of passive? Autoformer or resistors? what type of resistor attenuator? Series, Ladder, or Shunt? input and output impedance of attenuator? At what frequency? output impedance of phono? input impedance of amplifier?

I’m at a jazz festival so can’t help thinking of the Mercer tune, “Slow boat to China”. Only in this case the boat we hope is headed in the opposite direction.
Help.... I'm scared to 'upgrade'!
For what it’s worth, I think I’ve read other comments to the effect that the JC3+ can be a tad hissy, john curl design credentials  notwithstanding. This is not an issue inherent to vinyl reproduction.
bellari Pa 532 passive preamp question.
It’s a matter of matching impedances and one would need more info about the passive unit and the amplifier in order to answer your question. Otherwise you can connect anything to anything. Also quality counts a lot with a passive attenuator.

Not at my fingertips. Plus, I think my return went through the dealer, in the Akihabara electronics mecca in Tokyo. They dealt with Koetsu on my behalf. If you really need their contact I’ll make an effort.

It's probably on a ship somewhere in the Pacific.  Don't give up hope. My bet is you will eventually receive it, but "when" is the question.  Obviously, anything going from Singapore to NH, or anywhere else in the US, is going by air.  Obviously, ...
which turntable for the future?
A close friend just sold his top of the line Kronos, which I also like in principle, for the latest Monaco Grand Prix, and he’s very happy with the change. FWIW.

If sgreg thinks I am pressing for the OP to spend big bucks, that is not at all the case. The OP himself talked about a $70K Swiss unit and then about a 13.5K Accuphase. IMO you can acquire superb phono stages for much less. But on the other hand,...
THE LITTLE BLACK BOX, 399.00 ABSOLUTLY NUTS
I wonder what happened to Autospec.  Anyway, Michael Percy Audio, an on-line business, can sell you the Cardas DIN plug.  I know he has the female inline connector half; he may also sell the male piece that normally resides up inside the tonearm v...

IMO, you haven’t tried a really great phono stage yet, so it’s premature to conclude that the iFi Zen is some sort of giant killer. Most testimonials from other users would suggest that it’s not. It seems to be a good to very good phono stage “for...
