Rega P5 line level low output...
I agree with the other responders, but I think having the separate phone pre will help - you may find that the Bellari will boost the signal more than your built-in one does. I have a Bellari with my P5, and it works great - I have no volume diffe...
Has LED caught up to Plasma?
Chazro, the size thing usually has to do with distance from the screen. If your TV is in your bedroom, you are probably viewing from a closer distance than normal, so the smaller size may very well be better. For those of us that watch in the livi...
Piano and Trumpet can sound bright
In the vast majority of jazz clubs, the performers are miked. This is actually what creates most of the brightness, the sound systems are just too damn loud. There may be some clubs in NYC still that don't mike, but there sure aren't many anywhere...
Has LED caught up to Plasma?
Another advantage of plasma over LCD or LED is that it can be viewed from any angle - the picture does not look wrong even viewed from an extreme angle, as it does with LCD and LED. This is quite important at my house, where I am usually viewing a...
Garrard 301-Worth the effort?
Those are great tables. Restore it and keep it, you won't regret it.
Has LED caught up to Plasma?
I concur that plasma is still quite a bit better. The color seems better than LED because the plasma actually does blacks quite a bit better. It also still looks better for motion, especially sports. Since I watch mostly sports or classic films, p...
Piano and Trumpet can sound bright
It must be said that both of those instruments are quite bright naturally, especially the trumpet. But many pianos are too, especially the Yamahas that are in wide use today.
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Hi guys - if I may chime in on a couple of things about this harmonica example:Vertigo wrote: "a harmonica is an instrument that pushes very little air and since it pushes very little air, how it interfaces with the room is probably negligable." T...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Hi Vertigo - I have been away from the computer for a few days. I do apologize for the pity comment. That was indeed going much too far. I have been thinking about this subject while away from the forum the last couple of days, and I did come up w...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Vertigo - I think most people reading this thread will understand that you have misrepresented my comments. It seemed to me that you were clearly implying that I and everyone else disagreeing with you don't know what we are talking about, that our...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Vertigo wrote (among a great many other things): "..make a recording where all things are equal from your perspective(ie, your ears/the mics... are both 2ft from the bass and 5 ft from the drums and directionally the same)and play it back on a sys...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Hi Mapman and Vertigo - first, Vertigo, if I misunderstood part of your post, I apologize. I am often reading and typing on here late at night when I am tired after a heavy concert, as I was last night and again now. That said, Lacee is correct. I...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Vertigo said "I would venture to guess that some very good system's are as good as or extremely close to the live event to the point where the differences are negligible. [blindfolded]." Absolutely not. In fact, depriving one sense heightens the o...
Turntable speed accuracy
Please don't give up, Frogman! Let me try to continue your argument:Emotional expression is of course very important in music. But let's take Frogman's example, a beautiful melody being played with no sense of time. Rhythm and meter are the basic ...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
That's right - you tell 'em, Frogman! :)
