What component is responsible for dynamics ?
Yes, Unsound, your last post doesn't make alot of sense to me, either. High efficiency speakers, especially horns but also other types, are well known for very high quality at the very softest dynamics. This is one huge reason why so many professi...
Bandwidth question?
Don c55, nice link. I can't find the articles anymore, but it has been proven in the last twenty years or so that the human brain does definitely detect frequencies above what the ear can hear, scientists just don't understand exactly how yet.

How Many Audiophiles Have Do You Know?
I know a great many, but I am also a professional musician, and we naturally have a much higher percentage of our profession interested in audio reproduction than any other. I am surprised and more than a little disappointed to hear that so many o...

Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Hi guys - Frogman, thanks for your excellent post. You are so much better at explaining these things than I am. Vertigo, your last comparison to the human voice is exactly right as well. As Frogman said, the instrument becomes an extension of your...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Hi Vertigo - like Frogman, I am dumbfounded by your posts. Either you have not been serious this entire time, and this has been one giant troll; or, if you are truly serious, I throw up my hands in despair. If you really are curious for more info ...

Man in need of new music
Hi Klipschking - I would second the recommendation to go to some concerts live in your local area, especially if you happen to be in a major metropolitan area that has lots of offerings. That said, I think Mozart is the best place to start, partic...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Hi Vertigo - I'm sorry, but you are again misrepresenting my argument. When you say "In order to have meaningful dialog you guys will need to understand the distinction between playing STYLES and the timbre of a hohner marine band harmonica", alon...
Can the copy sound better than the original?
This has been my experience as well - follow Al's link for a good discussion.
Uverse quality questions
Everyone I know who has switched away from DirecTV, especially to Uverse, has really regretted it. I'm very happy with DirecTV, I wouldn't switch.
Adding a sub - what will I loose?
What you will lose is realism, especially for the timbres of acoustic instruments...
Do not buy any Sonus Faber used
The way I read it, it is talking about warranty issues, as a couple of others pointed out. I am sure you can still get replacement parts, they just won't be covered under warranty. You also don't necessarily have to go through the American distrib...
What component is responsible for dynamics ?
Agree that if you want the full range of dynamics, both macro and micro, highly efficient horn speakers are the way to go. This is one of their biggest advantages over other speaker types, and I want to emphasize that this is not just on the loud ...
