50 years of Hip Hop- How Come?
@ghasley - yes, I especially smiled thinking of all the people who will have gotten bent out of shape by it. I quite enjoyed it, though being unfamiliar with most of her stuff, not as much as I should have, but that's on me.
50 years of Hip Hop- How Come?
@clhs04 - she was not. The song 'Rapture' is a tribute to earlier rappers like Grandmaster Flash; many, many rappers doing it for a long, long time before the Blondie song.
Is R.E.M. underrated by new music nerds?
@dz13 - Totally agree about the Ramones; the first 3 are my favorites and I like 'Rocket To Russia' the best. 'Infected' is a great The The album... As for REM, I don't have any of their stuff in my collection, but most of my favorites are on 'Gre...

Burt Bacharach has passed away
@edcyn - so did the Stranglers; they did a great cover of 'Walk On By' in the style of the long version of 'Light My Fire'....

Sound quality of new vinyl recordings.

It was 61 years ago today...
I was around 12 or 13 and watching with my parents and some friends of the family. Most of their reactions are along the lines of 'Maybe Ed will pay 'em enough to get haircuts!'. I liked 'em OK, but didn't really become a big fan until around 1966...
Is R.E.M. underrated by new music nerds?
I'm 71, and I like a lot of REM's music, and there's also a lot that doesn't do much for me. I saw them once live back in the 90's, with Sonic Youth opening, and kinda lost interest in REM while becoming a big fan of Sonic Youth.... I never though...
Headphone break in?
It depends; I've had a lot of headphones and some sound really good, if not their best, right out of the box, and others I've gotten that sounded so bad out of the box that I was ready to send them right back, but after letting them break in for a...
What CDs to buy
IMO, a lot of CD's that came out in the 80's sounded like crap as far as sound quality; not surprising as it was a new technology - Midnight Oil and Iron Maiden come immediately to mind as 80's offenders, but there are many, many more, and the rem...
