It’s it just me or there are others.
I agree about instrumentalists; I used to enjoy guitar solos, drum solos (well, not drum solos that much), and such back in the 70's, but since then, if a solo doesn't serve the song it's in, they don't have to show off their chops to me - not int...
Fritz Speakers
I got a pair of Fritz Carrera BE's a few years ago after Fritz brought them by my place in San Francisco. They are wonderful indeed and Fritz is a great guy! But time for an upgrade still, and did an audition for upgrades the other day. I brought ...
Does anyone have any experience with Trenner & Friedl "ART" monitor
@robshaw - I've got a pair of Fritz Carrerra BE's; just went for an audition for an upgrade and will be replacing them with Marten Oscar Duo's. Those Fritz's really do come pretty close to the performance of speakers costing 3x as much, but there ...
Aidiogon is Da Bomb!
@rel  + 1 - Nice point! I was even tempted to mention that. Most people don't know about speechwriter William Safire and some of the famous lines that he came up with for others to say.
What's the point of reviewing?
@frankmc195 - but is a review with a demonstration worth much more? You're not hearing the system being reviewed; you're hearing your own system. The only kind of demonstrations I find useful are ones in my dealers' showrooms, like the speaker au...
Has Your Hobby Changed?
To me, the 'hobby' part is the buying and selling of gear. Listening to music is no more a 'hobby' for me than reading a book or watching a movie.
What's the point of reviewing?
Then it would seem you never read or listen to reviews. Fair enough. Other people do find value in them, as our experiences tend to confirm what some reviewers have to say.
Burn in vs perception
I can't speak for cables, but some speakers and headphones most assuredly do need some break in time; there is nothing psychological about the difference between some headphones right out of the box and the same headphones 100 hours later if the o...
Need to build a headphone system
@label19 - Hi - yeah, that's what my Oticons cost as well when I got them about 6 years ago. For in-ear, I've got Widex Moment 440's, and those cost about the same, but I'd never get Widex again. The app for use with the hearing aids looks like so...
Can a system sound too Holographic?
That would depend on individual tastes, but I could see how the 'holography' of the sound could distract from the music itself....
Cheap used LP's: They're still out there!
@bdp24 - I got to see Copperhead a few times at Winterland and at the Longbranch in Berkeley - great band!  Man played around 7 or 8 times at least around here, first supporting Hawkwind at the '1999 Party' back in 1974 in Berkeley, but later doi...
Why are speaker stands so expensive?!
I got those Monoprice stands, and two of the holes did not line up between the platform and the base, so I could only screw in 2 of the 4 screws. I read other reviewers on Amazon saying the same thing. Still works, though. For some speakers, the s...
Cheap used LP's: They're still out there!
@bdp24 - sorry, just saw that post. Yes, Welsh musicians are most certainly an incestuous lot; were you ever into the Man band and the other related Welsh hippie/psychedelic musicians from the 70s and 80s? I was, very much, and got to see Man seve...
Would It Be Possible To Get Help Finding This Song?

Need to build a headphone system
@label19 - do you use behind-the-ear hearing aids for headphone listening? I have Oticon behind-the-ear ones for listening to my 2-channel system, but I've got in-ear hearing aids for headphone listening. Otherwise, the sound is not being directed...
