Rhapsody in Blue - Which one?
If you are really a quadophile, try the Litton on Delos.
Favorite Performances of Russian Compositions
If you ain't a newbie, you must be young. Graffman and Szell are pretty well-known. As for other #3s, the Argerich a favorite of many but I like the Janis/Kondrashin equally. For a complete set of the Prokofiev's, I suggest Beroff/Mazur.BTW, some ...
taming studio 100's
I would suggest slightly wider spacing and some absorbtion/diffusion treatment at the first reflection point on the side walls.
testing cd player output impedance
It doesn't tell you the output impedance but it does tell you that it is happy seeing a 50K load.
Tweater hiss
How much hiss is there? Can you hear it when you are more than a foot from the tweeter? If not, it's probably OK. Otherwise, see what Bryston says.
testing cd player output impedance
Is it not in the User's Manual? Sony usually includes such info.
Tweater hiss
That makes little sense to me. If the his varies with the volume control, it comes from the preamp or the source. If the hiss comes from the preamp or source, it should disappear when the preamp is unplugged from the amp. Are you sure it is comple...
Interesting digital recording on Vinyl....
What I meant was that the SR in the deadwax is a good indicator for the selection of other LPs.
Interesting digital recording on Vinyl....
Just look for the SR initials in the dead wax.
Best multichannel SACDs?
It is a matter of taste. For example, I do not doubt that some of the earlier suggestions in this thread, e.g., Roxy Music, Police, Elton John, etc., are decent recordings (relying on the assessment of others) but I don't care to hear them. Same f...
Best multichannel SACDs?
Even those of us who use MCH (SACD and otherwise) would think that Tireguy's suggestions of researching those websites for stuff already posted and praised is a good idea. Anyone's taste is hard to know, so it's best if you glean what suits you fr...
Which are the top DVD-A players?
The Linn Unidisk 1.1 that I've had for a few months has not shown up any problems in operation or format recognition.
Does the length of an interconnect degrade the sou
The only real difference in susceptibility to noise pickup and that depends on the RF/EMI environment which is quite noisy in studios. I run 30foot interconnects from preamp to amp and there's no consistent difference between balanced and unbalanc...
Does the length of an interconnect degrade the sou
It really depends on the player but 10 meters is pushing it for most players. If it's digital output you are using, you can probably do it with high quality coax, balanced or optical as long as you have a decent DAC at the other end. If it's analo...
