C'mon name that amp ...please? What do you guys think of the ARC HD220 hybrid amp? That was the ARC model I was thinking of in original post. I have read the Audiogon review where the guy loved it and then 4 months later didn't, but I suspect he is a true "tuber" and embraced t...
C'mon name that amp ...please? Vic... DIY is not really for me. I'm more of a LSEDI kind of guy. (Let Someone Else Do It) I'm just not certain of my power requirements. I was able to audition a Class A 30 watt (Belles SA30) and it seemed to be on the lower edge of power output ...
C'mon name that amp ...please? The speakers are Montana XP and it's not that the highs are overbearing, but the Class D amp has limited trailing decay of cymbals and stuff like that.
Speakers with no rear wall, better or worse sound? Putting up a wall behind your speakers will lessen the perceived depth. Whether it's a visual or acoustical thing I don't know, but you will notice an amazing reduction and probably not like it at all.
Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Any experiences? Sorry, I haven't heard it either, but I am hoping that anyone who has will compare the sound to the KWA amps.
Crossovers and dynamics Thank you, that was very detailed and thorough. Now when my friends tell me that my 4 way 4th order floor standing speakers are being robbed of musical dynamics I can point them to your post. You have surely "busted" that audio myth.
Crossovers and dynamics OK I will rephrase the question. I have heard that multi-ordered crossovers will reduce the dynamic capabilities of a speaker vs. having no crossover at all (full range). Is this true, or does the crossover just reduce the drivers efficiency a bit...
Opinions Needed on which amp? I could also consider the KWA 100 SE if it was thought to be closer to the XA30.5 Thanks
Owners of Pass Labs XA30.5 Thanks Onemug, I am quite close to my decision. The only other candidate is the Modwright KWA 150 SE. Anybody have any thoughts between the two?
Owners of Pass Labs XA30.5 John,Thanks for your thoughts. I was using a tube integrated with 80 watts, but was considering the Pass as I'm getting sick of tubes. I also use a Velodyne DD-15 sub, so the bass is plenty as my Montanas are out in the center of the living room a...
Owners of Pass Labs XA30.5 Would an XA30.5 be adequate running my Montana XP speakers? 92 db @ 2 watts 4 Ohms multi driver 2x10" 2x7" 2x4" and 1 tweeter per speaker. Room size is 34x25, but I don't think I play it that loud.
ANY EXPERIANCE WITH PASS LABS AND MONTANA EPS2? You don't need that much power. Look at the XA30.5 unless you like it always loud.
Wyred 4 Sound STP/SE and Emotiva XPA1 The W4S STP-SE has an output impedance of about 100 Ohms. It should be fine with just about any amp except for ones with the lowest input impedance (less than 5K) and I can't think of any right now.
Output watts per tube Isn't you amp putting out 50 watts PER channel? That would mean 6 left tubes and 6 right tubes at about 8.3 watts each.
Stupid speaker test question...please help a n00b Exactly, we kill ourselves to get our electronics purer than Ivory soap, all the while our speakers are distorting much more. It is sort of like the dirty little secret of hi-fi. No one speaks of it much. It seems the emperor has new clothes. BTW ... |
