one large cap, or a few added up? Is there any way to break-in new caps without having to have them installed in my speakers. It seems that they will need 100 to 500 hours before they are "right". That's a lot of time! Could I just wire them up in parallel and plug them in the AC ...
one large cap, or a few added up? thanks guys. It seems that it is hard to find a 120uf cap so I will have to use a combination. Is it better to use 5 24uf, or to stagger the values like 50,33,25 and 12 which total 120uf as well?John
Disconnect the woofer Yes, it seems that I am passivly bi-amping the Mid/high by sending a full range signal through the maggie crossover. I did this because I did not want to mess with the best part of the speaker. I couldn't do a better job at voicing the speaker tha...
Disconnect the woofer Sorry to get back so late. The speakers are Mag 20.1 and I disconnected the woofer by not hooking the wire from the crossover to the woofer inputs on the panels. I am using open baffle subs for 110 Hz and lower and it sounds great. I split the sig...
New Fuse Thread . . . Can anyone comment on the Acme fuses ($12 each) vs. the Hi-Fi ones that are $40 each? Thanks

Opinions on Wyred 4 Sound ICE amps Thanks. Did either of you consider the D-Sonic Magnum amps when deciding? They are less money, but don't have the input buffer switch.
Recommend a forward speaker Dennis,There has been a lot of good advice in the above posts, but here is another one. Check out Legacy Focus HD speakers. They have a very lively presence and are a full range speaker.
Is my amp "High Current"? Wow, That was an excellent response. I finally saw the light bulb above my head go on. I only hope I can generate the watts to keep it lit :-)Thank you. You really did explain that well.
Time for new tubes.. which ones? So Sorry, they are 12AT7 the preamp manual says I can also use 12AX7 or 12AU7 as well. All I know is that the original tubes came from China. Thanks for any help.
Sound Quality or Convenience? I sold my ARC LS3 because it had no remote control. However I replaced it with TAD 150 Sig. preamp and it also sounds great, and I don't have to cross the room to adjust the volume any more. I did it for convenience though.
Which integrated, or keep what I have? I recently added the Legacy Victorias and also a McCormack UDP-1 CD player. The improvements were fantastic, so I was thinking maybe if I replace the other stuff there would be another sonic improvement plus I could now have remote control volume....
A "bit" of information Thank you all for your responses. I was trying to convince myself that I didn't need a new transport. I've been told my Sony DVP S900es is not good as a transport.
New DAC or New Player?? Thank you all for responding. After reading lots of threads I have decided that SACD is over for me. I only have about 10 discs and some of them are hybrid anyway. I am going to get a DAC to maximize the Redbook sound and still have a DVD and SACD...
Dynamic vs Planars Speakers We really do need to know your room size to make that call. |
