Auraliti PK100 I just got a PK90. I also e-mailed them numerous times and always got a response from Ray. Sometimes it was quick, and sometimes a few days. Everything A-OK with these guys, I just think they are busy, and are a very small company. The PK90 works g...
W4S DAC1 & STP-SE vs. W4S DAC2 as digital frontend What a mysterious answer that was.
Cambridge Audio 751 BD or Oppo BDP95? It seems that I like to use extra "e"'s
Cambridge Audio 751 BD or Oppo BDP95? Isn't the Camebridge based off of the Oppo like the other manufactures do?
Magnepan 1.6 active 24db slop better than stock? Are you planning to remove the grill to bypass the internal crossover for active bi-amping? It probably took Magnepan quite a lot of time and expertise to dial in that sound. Unless you're willing to spend hundreds of hours tweaking the frequency ...
Thoughts of Pass XA30.5, 60.5 If your preamp is solid state with an output imp. of 100 or so Ohms then you should be just fine with the 2 amps.
silver upgraded Mccormack DNA-1 comparison I agree with Larryken. I once had a DNA .5 that I upgraded to Rev. A which is now called "Gold". It was a nice improvement, but the tone of the amp didn't change, only more detail. I also had a TAD 150 signature as well. It was better than my ARC ...
Class A Amp owners, Whats your power bill? Schipo: Do you have to give them your old amp so it can be crushed?Elevick: A 25 watt bulb? Yes, if you put 20 of them in a row. Most power companies charge from 12 to 20 cents for every 1,000 watts run for 1 hour. So you can figure it from there.
Is equal gain OK for bi-amping? Al: very helpful thanks to all here. One question though: If the amps have 2 very different input impedances, say 20K and 60K and they have equal gain, won't the output volume be different also because of the impedance being un-equal?
Is equal gain OK for bi-amping? Oops, seem like I forgot input impedance has to be the same also. Well that makes it a lot harder to do. Maybe I will get an integrated tube amp and adjust the volume until it sounds right on both top and bottom. Will I really be wasting the power...
Pass XA30.5 vs. X150.5 John (Jdoris) I listen to lot's of different stuff, and a bit louder than your avg. level. I think I listen at around 85 with peaks to 95. What is your opinion on those levels, and I gather you are happy with the sound?
Pass XA30.5 vs. X150.5 My speakers are 92 db and 4 Ohms, but they have lots of drivers 2-10", 2-7", 2-3" and a tweeter (Montana XP, plus I have a large room (35 x 25 x 10 foot ceiling). I was just wondering if the additional price of the XA30.5 used was mainly because o...
Pass X vs XA amps sound quality in class A range Keep in mind that when you throw your parties you won't be critically listening so these amps will play way over their class A ratings with no risk of clipping as they convert to class AB. You wiill probably be safe with a lower powered one.
Two things about tubes I have a Jolida integrated 502BRC and it's absolutely quiet even with my ear up to the mid and tweeter and volume at 90% with no signal. (spkrs 93 db eff.)
Tube Basics 101: What is a rectifier tube for? Isn't that like saying any average steering wheel will operate a car, but take it out and let's see how well the car operates? |
