Upgrading preamp. Best for under $1K
Thanks for the responses! It seems tubes is the way to go for preamp but will it match well with the B&K amp? It'll depend on the specifics, but should match up extremely well.  You can always experiment with brands and tube types to tailor...
Upgrading preamp. Best for under $1K
Tubes 4 Hifi has several excellent fully assembled tube preamps within budget: http://www.tubes4hifi.com/pre11.htm
Cast into Utter Darkness
Money for Nothing.....great intro, great concept at the time.  Radio stations played the $hit out of it.
Best Full-Function Preamplifier
You might be able to find a used Convergent SL-1 in your price range.  Best preamp I know of by a good margin.
Bought a system without auditioning, thoughts?
It'll largely boil down to how well you like the Klipsch, and how they play with your room.  The components are all good stuff, and the MP500 with the SL1210 should be excellent together.
Legacy Audio Focus SE Bi-Amp or Not Bi-Amp
Experimenting with slightly different placement may help.  A bit further from walls will give less bass reinforcement. Room treatment, bass traps, etc., can also help. As suggested, a way to control the output of the bass amp is another useful s...
WHY CABLES MATTER!
I have no more answers than any of you on the subject of cables, but I suspect there are several variables involved, which can make discussion difficult if we’re not talking about similar variables within our systems. If you have a separate amp a...
Speaker cable recommendations
The Monoprice 4-conductor DIY cable sounds great and works nicely for bi-wiring, and is quite affordable.
Am I wasting money on the theory of Bi-amping?

Am I wasting money on the theory of Bi-amping?
Two identical amps....one for each channel has less crosstalk, and a dedicated power supply on each channel....similar benefits as mono blocks. Any amp should benefit from that scenario.  If you use two identical stereo amps, you can use one chann...
Am I wasting money on the theory of Bi-amping?
It’s not a waste. Assuming the passive crossovers in your speakers are good, you still gain the benefit of having separate amps for each channel, which have similar benefits as monoblocks. There’s better physical and electrical separation. Are yo...
TRAVELING TO JAPAN! Recommendations for shops for cartridges?
@njcardave  Look for DS Audio optical cartridges. I have the entry level DS E1. FANTASTIC. +1.  It's in a totally different price class than Nagaoka, and needs a proportionately top shelf system to really be heard, but I've heard the DS W3 on ...
TRAVELING TO JAPAN! Recommendations for shops for cartridges?
Nagaoka MP-500.  It has a warm musical character with stellar midrange clarity and fatigue free natural open airy treble.  Very dynamic too.
We Are Not Alone--there are those above us
I’ve been a Roy Buchanan fan since the 80s when I first heard him play. My boys recognized his talent right away, and are always borrowing the LP. Very, very talented man.  His guitar sings with the best of them.
Midrange Increasingly Harsh
Do the tweeters have ferro fluid?  That can need to be replaced after many years, as it turns into sludge. You may also have some capacitors in the crossover that are drifting from original values.   Tubes are a consumable, and should be checked...
