The $27,900 disappointment? Wilson Audio Watt Puppy 8 issues.
@thecarpathian  I'm glad to see Danny changed his hair style. He used to look like my aunt. Beard and all... ROTFLMAO

Dealers must love selling them!  $28K speaker with a 2.4 ohm impedance, so you have to buy a $15K amp to drive them.
Who positions their speakers straight ahead (zero tow in) and why.
My room is pretty good size, and I sit quite a ways away, so am not sure a straight on setup would work so well, but ya never know until you try. The ideal setup is unique to every speaker, room, and system, so what works great for one situation ...
What would you save in a fire?
Sorry about what you’re dealing with. If facing a similar situation, system wise, I’d try to take my scratch built, original design speakers, and at least the tube amp that my uncle made, and it’s matching twin too, and hopefully the Lazarus tube...
Can we make major musical discoveries at age 50, 65, or 80?
It’s allways great to be introduced to new music that sparks an interest.  I'm a lot different than I was 40 years ago, so I appreciate things for different reasons, but they can still be very impactful.  Music should be! My adult children are al...
Shameless Poll: Pearl vs Ohm vs Zu
I'd go with the one  you like best that works well in your room with your gear...
A question about trim rings around speaker drivers
I would guess it depends on the screw thread, the material, and how much they were tightened in the first place.   With older speakers it's prudent to rotate the woofers 180 degrees every few years to offset the pull of gravity on the suspension,...

Which sounds better 2 way or 3 way speaker design
@toddalin  I said ~80 Hz for the bottom of the midrange because the idea is to keep at least the fundamentals of the human voice within one driver and there are those who can certainly sing lower than that. 100% agree with this. Having the fun...
Can you damage your speakers by plugging bass port vent?
The sound might not be optimal but won’t damage your speakers
Tubes
There are a lot of tube aficionados here too who'd probably love to pick up some cool tubes for not insane prices.  ( I know I would!)  It seems that avid collectors and re-sellers grab most of the deals.  A list would be great.
Is anyone here still into live concerts these days?
I don’t go to many, but our kids have gifted us a couple of concert tickets in recent times. We went to hear ZZ Top and Jon Fogarty at CMAC a couple of summers ago. Billy Gibbons can still play, but the band sucked....Frank Beard looked dead at h...
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN YOUR CHEAPEST SYSTEM VS. MOST EXPENSIVE SYSTEM?
The biggest difference I see between my first real system and what I have now is overall better clarity, refinement, and coherency, with a much bigger and better defined soundstage. There are simply fewer things contributing to the smearing and gr...
Which sounds better 2 way or 3 way speaker design
The crossover design is critical with both 2-way and multiway speakers, but it’s considerably more difficult to achieve balance and coherency with more than two drivers. If the objective is for the speaker to be able recreate a music wave realisti...
Tweeters with or without fluid?
Ferrofluid can help flatten the impedance curve and reduce Fs and diaphragm excursions, but each design is different and handles those potential issues differently, so it’s use isn’t universally advantages. I changed out the FF on my 30 year old ...
