Audiophilism is a hobby
That’s true. We all have different sensitivities and needs from our systems in order to be able to get a visceral feel from the music. We’re all unique in that regard....my wife and girls are just as happy with a crappy stock car radio, but I rare...
Speakers, floor standing or Bookshelfs
It depends. Room size, room acoustics, and setup are are big factors. The specifics of speakers in question and how they play in your room are more critical than whether they’re floor standers or bookshelf IMO. Two subs help smooth out room nodes...
Looking for the next level in imaging...
No ownership of anything at this level, but my guru says the MBLs are among the  best sounding speakers available, but also says they're hard to drive and are brutally revealing, so need top amplification. He's also quite positive about the Clary...
Music first or sound first?
Now that my system is up to snuff, music first! 😋
Measurement Bias
@audition__audio I dont understand the apparent need for validation by measurements. It should simply be enough to like the sound of a component... That’s exactly where I stand. We listen with your ears and brain, so listening is an excellent...
Should we care if a piece of equipment comes from a pet-free, kid-free, smoke-free home?
Pet-free, kid-free, and smoke-free are "nice to haves", but condition is more important.  If it's in good condition and from pet-free, kid-free and smoke-free...all the better.
People complain about lack of bass, not enough mid range. Solution?
@emergingsoul That might be a bad example, as there may be other selection requirements not shown... I’m sure there are others. It doesn’t provide the advantages of a true 2nd amplifier, but running a separate output channel for each driver, do...
People complain about lack of bass, not enough mid range. Solution?
@dennis041992 So I’m thinking of bi-amping my B&W 602s2 bookshelf from a Rotel RB-850 5 channel amplifier. As I understand I use my bi-wire Audioquest cables by plugging it into the left main and left surround and the same with the right. W...
Measurement Bias
Good point for sure. Those who rely on measurement have as much bias as someone who doesn’t (and possibly less listening skill due to neglect).    Measurement bias is basically expectation bias, and any listening that ensues (assuming that even ha...

40+ watts SET, cost is not a problem
If cost isn’t a concern, and best performance is, take a look at the Convergent amps. Nothing better overall, IMHO of course. Give Ken Stevens a call, or have your buddy call him. He may have some compelling insights for you.
People complain about lack of bass, not enough mid range. Solution?
@botrytis When I have talked to SEVERAL speaker designers, most stated that bi-amping does nothing. I’ve seen others state they’ve read the same thing, so they end up not trying, which is a shame, because IME it’s not true. Since everyone’s s...
People complain about lack of bass, not enough mid range. Solution?
There seems to be a fair amount of confusion and conflicting info about bi-amping, so I suspect that some folks are hesitant to even try. Every situation is different, and one size fits all does not apply. Bi-amping can applied in many different w...
Am I right for this forum?
@snilf  And a correction, by the way. As my overlong narrative concludes, $4,000 is a more accurate estimate of what I paid for the components in my system than $3,000. I guess I should read my own words more carefully.  Sand bagging by over 3...
Am I right for this forum?
Cost is not a great indicator of sound quality, and sound quality is highly subjective. It sounds like you’ve been around plenty of true high end sound, and know what music sounds like, so you have some advantages that many don’t even realize they...
