Tube preamp with Adcom amp
@highend64  Thanks for all the recommendations. As for remote, that would be a plus but don't really need one. Don't have a remote for my tube preamp either, but I do have one for my CD and DAC that comes in handy.  Vinyl is still manual....as...
Turn table . Price/Quality for 13000£ ?
Fascinating to watch, and a beautiful result! Having done plenty of woodworking, and made a custom TT plinth, with a Garrard deck/rim drive, and Marantz tonearm, I’m impressed with his craftmanship. 😎  (mine didn't turn out quite as nice!)
Is it important to long demo or own HIGH END gear to have a fair accurate view about it?
Listening (as opposed to hearing) is a skill that can be honed even if you’re hearing isn’t stellar. IMHO....any critical equipment evaluations should be long term if you’re trying to decipher subtle differences....high end, or even just "good" eq...
Happy Holidays and Your Favorite Tips?
For the record, this was said in jest.... 😉 For parents - Gift wrap some empty boxes and place them under the tree. Every time one of the kids acts up, grab one of the wrapped boxes and toss it in the fireplace.    😉

Tube preamp with Adcom amp
VTA from tubes4hifi.com offers some good options in your price range. https://www.tubes4hifi.com/pre12.htm
Power conditioners
There are a lot of variables in play, so I doubt there are many cold hard absolutes that apply. The wiring to a given outlet, the supplied voltage itself, etc., and perhaps most importantly, the power supply included with any given component. I kn...
I found the best way to recycle my old tubes!
😍😍😍 Brilliant!
What are your exact settings for volume and low pass filter on your SVS sub?
I don't have an SVS sub, but have always tried to set my sub low pass crossover at it's lowest setting (usually 40 or 50hz), then set the gain so that I can barely hear it except for on bass heavy passages.  I use the sub only to augment the botto...
another rookie question - preamp or or power amp
@audiotroy ,,,what matters is the quality of the parts True, but it’s worth noting that if you took the preamp section out of a good integrated amp, gave it it’s own power supply and enclosure, and used it to power the same amp, it would have...
Do you adjust your subwoofer
Mine is a set it and forget it component.  The sub's output should be proportionate to the rest of the system, and controlled by the main volume. Occasionally I'll make a minor adjustment, but the sub settings have an unofficial default setting th...
another rookie question - preamp or or power amp
If you plan to get one good integrated amp and be done with it, an IA is a good option. If you figure to continue your journey to other levels, the move to separates makes the most sense to me. All of the best systems I’ve heard had separates. At ...
another rookie question - preamp or or power amp
There are some really good integrated amps, but there are advantages in going with separates too.  Which is better is a variable...it depends on the particular component in question.  If you get another integrated, it could be an upgrade, or it co...
Phono preamp, all suggestions welcome
The Hagerman Cornet 3 kit would be on my short list
Do I upgrade my cartridge or my turntable
@chayro gave good advice IMO. I’d be inclined to climb up the cartridge or stylus food chain before swapping the TT.
