Phono Preamps with "balls" ?
Thank @atmasphere for a very informed and informative set of posts (and on-topic too).
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
Well these comments inspired me to saddle up the ol' ART9 again after making some changes to my ICs and adding a Stillpoints LP Isolator to the TT.  The LPI in particular helped open up the top end and it also tightened up the bass a bit and sharp...
Phono Preamps with "balls" ?
... well not to hijack the thread, but now you've got me interested in the Violectrics @czarivey and @fsonicsmith. I checked out their website. The PPA 600 ticks off a lot of boxes for me. Anyone know how it compares to the PP1?  Google seems to k...

Doshi Alaap phono stage. "Balls" to spare. Also "bells" at times. But "bills" will be hard to pay after you buy one.
My Feelings — and, Incidentally, the iFi Audio iPhono2
I feel you man. My worst experiences in buying used gear have come not from individual owner/sellers but from established companies.
VPI 3D arm
Mat is on paternity leave right now, so I hear. Why don’t you just cancel the vpi order and buy the same thing from an online retailer like Music Direct? Only drawback is you’d have to stop kvetching.
Isolation stands: snakeoil?
I deleted my earlier post because it was too snarky. But I applaud the patience of the other posters on this thread.

I think you make a fair point @tobes. I also felt a disconnect between some of the high flying rhetoric in this thread and the way it ended with a bit of a whimper. That discomfort is why I posted a long and perhaps unwelcome comparison of the ART...
TT mats
@bdp24 - yeah I bet Delrin would be a good material - seems pretty similar to acrylic and PVC in density. maybe it’s the cost?
TT mats
@bdp24  congrats on the new Aries. Unfortunately mine didn't come with the original platter so I can't answer your question. I got a classic platter bundled into the deal when I got the TT, along with a vpi acrylic platter installed by the origina...
TT mats
To get back to the OP, I think your best bet if you can afford it is to try a number of different mats and find the one that works best for you. The various threads on this topic seem to demonstrate that people have different results with differen...
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning
@slaw thanks for the clarification - I actually had no idea what you were driving at.  I have not read your posts about your cleaning regimen but I'll take a look. This thread has inspired me to rethink using the Audio Desk as the ONLY part of the...
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning
sorry I was just agreeing with the OP and adding a shout out for AI fluids. cheers!
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning
@slaw - not sure what you mean about "options." can you clarify?
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning
Thumbs up on this - I've been using the Audio Desk Pro myself and I swear by it. It's easy to underestimate the value of convenience IMO. I'm always happy to spend time fooling around with a new toy, but what about a year later? The fact that I ca...
