ZYX Ultimate with carbon fiber cantilevers -- listener reviews?
@unchilled While undoubtedly proprietary, curious what adhesive or binding compound is used to produce a ZYX cantilever composed of 1000 pieces of CF composite.I have a feeling God and Nakatsuka-san are the only ones who can answer that question.
ZYX Ultimate with carbon fiber cantilevers -- listener reviews?
Mehran at Sora sound once explained to me why there were few reviews of the Universe premium. Unfortunately I forget what he said! But point is, it wasn't for lack of sales or interest. And there IS a review of the Zyx Universe premium in Tone Aud...
review iPhono 2
^^ well said @audiofun. I would also like to thank you for this meaty and pellucid comment in your original post: This thing sounds like it has a tube in it, and I don’t mean in that classic overly warm soft rose colored sound that I found so fant...
VPI Avenger Reference + Stillpoint Ultra V's
I agree about setting the whole thing on the same shelf, @goheelz .However I think Stillpoints claims that the effect is greater when you place their footers closer to the component, so they discourage using them under shelves. My own solution to ...
VPI Avenger Reference + Stillpoint Ultra V's
In my experience it's a bad idea. I tried it with an Aries 1 TT and ultra Vs. had bad distortion on any dynamic peaks. The trouble is that you're essentially decoupling the TT from the base, but not the motor. That means that the lateral force fro...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
+1 on tablejockey's comments. Give it the best you've got, and the ART9 won't disappoint (as long as it's in good shape). SUT vs SS gain stage seems to come down to personal preference a lot, or implementation in a particular product, so you'll ne...
If NOS pre or power tubes became unavailable altogether, what new tubes would you buy?
Nothing! That's *all* you need to say IMO. Now back to regularly scheduled programming, I hope.  Cheers, jt

Raul's posts are all about Raul. Too bad he's taken over this thread and ignored the polite request from the OP to knock it off.
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better?
Consciousness is a privilege or aspect of a complex social/environmental scene, it is not a core requirement for species survival.Really not sure about that statement. Lots of very old-school assumptions embedded there. I'd say 'consciousness' is ...
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive
oh weird - for some reason my browser didn’t show me the last bunch of posts before posting the above comment. apologies if I’m already redundant
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive
So if you read between the lines maybe you would ask yourself. Can you make electronics stabilize a motor on lighter platter (speed/noise/etc) as well or better than a massive belt driven platter.I think the short answer is Yes, at least for me. ...
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better?
Actually to be honest, this thread has gotten me thinking again about improving my digital setup. Much as I love the Chord Hugo DAC, it’s not that user-friendly as home stereo component. Too small and travel-oriented. So there’s a lot of music goi...

... Yeah, definitely gonna toss my VPI turntable in the garbage when  the Love comes out. can't wait!
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
@lewm the Doshi doesn’t have a mono switch, nor does the Truth volume control. I’m not sure why that would warm up the mid range though. ?  (I mean not having the preamp switched to mono). @pani I knew this wasn’t really a "shoot-out" because the ...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
Thanks for the kind words Frank. I did try the ART9 on a few mono records but I wasn't too crazy about it. I found the sound too warm and thick in the mid-range, much more so than on stereo LPs. Not sure why that would be the case.  On the second ...
