Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms
@jollytinker Yes, actually. It was a MSL Platinum signature on a Saphir mounted on a CS Port turntable and the 4 point was on a Kuzma R. Now, this was at a friend’s house and he feels the Saphir sounded better. He's a lot more impressionable...

@lewm Thanks for your comment. I couldn't agree more. Our knowledge is always incomplete. The best one can hope for is to learn over time.
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms
@mijostyn  @jollytinker You noticed a difference between cartridge arm combinations., not tonearms. Yes, if you *read* my comment you'll notice that I said exactly that. It's why I refer to Lewm's caveat. But the import of his many-times repea...
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms
Seriously, neither one of us wanted to go through mounting and unmounting both fancy cartridges twice. And I've since found that the Zyx Uni is not happy on the Safir so it wouldn't have yielded much benefit anyway. The Zyx can't seem to track ver...
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms
@tomic601  I have to ask… why not evaluate both arms w same cartridge ? note, i am a fan of both Kuzma arms… and have decent seat time w both.   it was the electromagnetic pulses.
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms
I think the OP asks a great question. As a data point, I compared the Kuzma Safir to the Kuzma 4 point 11 on a Stabi R turntable, in the process of deciding whether or not to buy the former. I understand @lewm’s caveat that you can only ever get ...
Upgrading from a VPI Aries 1- is it worth it?
I used an Aries 1 for about ten years and in that time I changed out everything but the plinth. I can agree with all the positive comments here and I’ll also add an anecdote. I ended up creating a bit of a ’Frankentable’ that couldn’t be compared ...
Turntable Isolation Journey
Well thanks for the tip about spikes into hockey pucks for speaker footers! I’m amazed at what it did for a pair of Pure Audio Project speakers on a sprung floor. Just snapped everything into focus and took the goo out of the midrange. Much better...
You've run some pretty fancy MC's, but the _______ MM cartridge really impressed me
Stanton 881s mkii   I found an NOS example on Reverb. Lovely, balanced, great sounding cartridge and my ears are very much attuned to the ‘modern’ MC sound. The only drawback was the mounting scheme which involves old, hardened nylon pieces that...
Kumza Stabi S or Rega P10 ??
Seems to me there are a few core issues here that might need sorting.  A: do you really need that particular dealer to define your home listening environment? (Or is the tail wagging the dog to some extent?)  B: as good as the Rega P10 may be, i...
Dylan's Time Out of Mind remix is Stunning
To my mind it’s all about the murk. I think Lanois did a great job on the original Time Out of Mind. The dark sound was a huge part of its allure. It’s a work of art (no?) about aging and losing touch. About existential darkness creeping in as you...
Does Everyone Use 2 Phono Cables with SUT
This is particularly important when you get into the higher impedance cartridges through high ratio SUT’s Dave @intactaudio, thanks for this explanation. So my takeaway is that the higher capacitance of standard interconnects makes them problem...
Does Everyone Use 2 Phono Cables with SUT
Well thanks OP for a very helpful thread. I’ve had an A23 Hommage T2 for several years now but I’ve always found it underwhelming. However I was using it with .5 meter A23 interconnects (and a Kuzma 4 point on the inputs). I had the intuition that...
Cube Audio Nenuphar Single Driver Speaker (10 inch) TQWT Enclosure
I haven’t seen any reason to be suspicious of Cube Audio. I had a good experience with them and the distributor when I needed to swap out a driver shortly after receiving the Nenuphars.   just a couple words about that: changing the drivers is e...
Cube Audio Nenuphar Single Driver Speaker (10 inch) TQWT Enclosure
I’ve also found a modest but worthwhile improvement using Stillpoints in place of the factory spikes. Stillpoints makes some adaptors that work for the Nenuphars too. I think they’re for the Acoustic Zen Adagios, going from 1/4” to M6.
